Dear Families,
Thank you so much for taking the time to meet with us last week. It certainly does take a village, and your clear communication during our conversations helps us to better serve your children on their k
indergarten journeys. Philosopher George Santayana put it quite well: "A child educated only at school is an uneducated child." When we work together as we have done, your children rise to great heights.
Believe it or not, we have only ten weeks left of the school year. Be sure to enjoy these last few months of kindergarten with your child - it goes by quickly!
Sincerely,
Your Kindergarten Teachers - Team K!

What We Have Been Learning
|
|
Science
We are getting ready to release our trout next week! The fry are growing and the tanks are looking healthy. We have been diligently observing and recording our observations each day.
|
Friendship Workshop
We are continuing to practice using breathing tools to help us with self-control. Taking two slow deep breaths is a great way to slow down and gain control of our energy.
|
|
Math
We are continuing to explore with cuisenaire rods. We have been using the cuisenaire rods to make different combinations of equal lengths. This can help us learn how numbers can be broken apart and put together, and is a great way to begin addition!
|
Handwriting
We have almost finished learning all our letters in uppercase and lowercase. Encourage your child to use lowercase letters except when writing the first letter in their name or sentence.
|
|
Talking with your child is the best way to support classroom learning. The following questions can help you get started.
-
What challenges might our fry face when we release them next week?
- What are cuisenaire rods? What do the colors mean? How can you make 6?
- Review: What sound does each letter make?

Our school day begins at 8:15 am. Please do everything you can to ensure your child arrives to school at or before this time. Arriving on time allows your child to ease into the day gracefully, and helps us all make the most of our day. Here are some tips to help. Here are some more tips!
