Community Action Committee (CAC)

Hello CREW DC, nice to e-meet you!

Our mission here on the Community Action Committee (CAC) is to advance the success and independence of women and their families by providing financial contributions and volunteer support to organizations that assist those in need in the DMV. And we'd like to invite you to join us!

Throughout 2017, we will be hosting a number of events open to all CREW DC members - from monthly dinner services and goods-raising happy hours, to seasonal run-walks and a clean-up day in our most amazing front yard (the National Mall) - and we look forward to welcoming those of you interested in giving back to our local community of women.

For those race enthusiasts out there, our CAC Runners Team (Lauren Doucette and Suzanne Ross) is sponsoring a CREW DC group for the Bright Beginnings 5k on April 29th. We gift performance shirts to all those who join us - CREW women and family members.

We are thrilled that the CREW EDU Committee has already signed on to partner with CAC for our annual Mother's Day spa bag donation to our partner organization DASH. We'll be assembling bags and enjoying a joint happy hour on Quadrangle's roof for our May committee meeting on Tuesday, May 9th at 4:30pm .  Any donations can be sent or dropped off at their office before that date ( Attn. The Topgolf event originally scheduled for March 15th will now take place on Wednesday, March 29 from 5:00pm - 9:00pm at Top Golf Alexandria.

Donations for DASH
We are planning to donate 100 bags this year to DASH for Mother's Day.  We have already
collected the below items:
  • 21 shampoos
  • 63 conditioners
  • 50 lotions
  • 164 bars of soap
  • 100 small tins of mints
  • 25 emergency pouches
  • 25 lip balms
  • 25 mini lint brushes
  • 50 pens
  • 25 car chargers
  • Plus a handful of body washes and toothpastes
Other items that can be donated include: 
  • nail polish
  • any type of makeup samples you may receive from a makeup counter
  • face masks
  • tea
  • chocolate
  • travel size lotions perfume samples
  • Nail files/accessories
