Details on Cuts to Grants in Lieu in 2017-18 Provincial Budget
SUMA learned during announcements yesterday that our members would face a loss of roughly $36 million in grants in lieu as a result of cuts in the Government of Saskatchewan's 2017-18 budget. We expressed our upset with these cuts in
our media release yesterday, based on what we knew at the time. We immediately began looking for details on:
exactly what grants in lieu will be cut;
a breakdown, by municipality, of the $36 million in cuts; and
when changes will be effective.
Officials from the Crown Investment Corporation provided
this document, which breaks down the amounts estimated to be eliminated, by municipality. We continue to look for further details, and will pass those along when we have them.
