Hello Hope,
Once again this week, with the terrorist attacks in London, death was front page news.
Most of our experience with the pain and loss of the death of a loved one will never make the news. The reality, however, is death is a big deal. When we face the death of someone we love or when we come face to face with our own mortality, it can become an all-consuming reality in our lives.
We have questions and we want answers.
We experience a wide range of emotions and often don't know what to do with that.
As we continue our Lenten message series, I AM, we'll look at a powerful statement Jesus makes as he's grieving the death of a close friend.
"I am the resurrection and the life."
It's a familiar story for many of us, so I'm excited to help us see it with fresh eyes.
I've enlisted the help of Jeremy and the worship team, as well as a special guest who I guarantee will give you a new perspective on Lazarus' resurrection experience.
First communion
class begins soon. There are two opportunities for your children (and you!) to learn the story, symbolism and grace of the body and the blood: Sunday, March 26 or Saturday, April 1.
Let's Build More
is off to a great start! Jesus really is the resurrection and the life - for the entire world. When you take part in the Lenten mission project to build churches in Ghana and West Africa you are making an eternal impact and helping to transform lives.
Finally, be praying for our Ignition students who are having b a weekend away in Kansas City. I'm praying everything they get to do this weekend will help them experience the reality of Hope's 2017 theme TO (be) KNOW(n).
See you around Hope!
Pastor Scott
PS - If you didn't see
the email earlier this week,
Pastor Josh Linman has accepted a call to a church in the Atlanta, GA area. This is an exciting move for Josh and his wife, Laura. We want to celebrate the gift he has been to the growth of Hope Ankeny over the last four years. There will be an open house on
Saturday, April 8 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm in The Harbor and we hope you can come!
