Today's Announcements      

  • The stadium will remain an active construction site throughout the Summer.  Students and staff must avoid parking along the West side of the South lot.  You don't want to mix your cars in with construction trailers and materials.
  As early as Spring break, the front circle drive will be closed to all    but bus traffic.  Students who ride buses will need to enter/exit  through the East Studies or the Fine Arts 400s hall for the remainder  of the school year.  As with any construction site, follow signs and  don't cross or move and fences or barriers.

  • Tryout packets for RB cheer for next year are located in the activities office.  Teacher recommendation forms must be in Coach Hayes mailbox in the activities office NLT 4pm April 6th (tryout day).  Tryouts will be held the week of April 3 - 6

  • The Senior All Night Party (SANP) started 61 years ago to provide every graduating senior from all Columbia schools a fun and safe celebration.  It is funded by donations from local businesses, community groups and ticket sales.  
Save the Date! The Senior All Night Party (SANP) begins 11:00 pm on Saturday, May 20th and ends 5:00 am Sunday, May 21st. The event is held at the Hearnes Fieldhouse on the University of Missouri- Columbia campus.  The senior ticket cost is $30 in advance (RSVP by May 1 to be entered drawings for special door prizes) or $35 the night at the door.  Scholarships are available. See Ms. Casey in the Activities office for details.
 
Formal invitations will be mailed to each senior. Watch for your personalized invitation in April!
 
Included in the ticket price, each senior will be given a drawstring bag to hold cell phone, ID, and play money.  Also included in the ticket price, seniors will typically experience - Games and activities including all you can eat food, casino games, inflatables, music, sports tournaments, and karaoke and much more.  There will be thousands of dollars in cash and prizes!!! Must be present to win!
  • Parking permits are $15 for March.  
  • Interested in AVID for next year?  Pick up an application from the Counseling Office and return when completed.

RBHS PTSA Announcements

  • CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR RBHS PTSA REFLECTIONS STATE CONTEST WINNERS!   The national PTA Reflections theme this year was "What is Your Story".
Every Rock Bridge High School Student that entered the contest Placed in the Top Awards in the state!!!  First Place Winners have been submitted for the National PTSA Reflections Competition with winners to be announced in May.

Guidance Announcements
  • SENIORS with a 2.5+ GPA planning to attend MACC full-time in the fall of 2017 are eligible for the MACC Superintendent's Scholarship valued at $300/semester.  This scholarship can be used along with your A+ Program Scholarship!  See Mrs. Reed or Mrs. Geyer in the Counseling Office by Friday, March 24th if you are interested in being nominated for this award. 
  • 9th-11th grade underrepresented ethnic minority high school students with at least a 3.00 GPA who are interested in business are encouraged to apply for the University of Missouri Trulaske Business Academy.  Applications can be found in the Counseling Office or at:

  • Camp Salsa (CPS Summer School Course Urban Ecology) is accepting applications for their 8-week summer program! Camp   Salsa is a collaborative academic/employment effort between the C.A.R.E. program, MU Family Impact Center, Columbia Center for Urban Agriculture, and Columbia Public Schools.  Camp Salsa began in 2015.
Camp Salsa provides opportunities for about 15 local high school students to work from beginning to end on a project to foster skills that can be transferred into the workforce.  The main components of the Camp Salsa experience are:
*  Grow:  trainees will learn to maintain a garden.
*  Cook:  trainees will work in a team to research and produce a unique salsa recipe.
* Sell:  trainees will learn to create a business plan, package their salsa, create a brand, label their product, and then sell their salsa.
Upon completion of the first four weeks of the program, students will receive one high school class credit from Columbia Public Schools (Urban Ecology).  In addition, students will be paid for working hours for eight weeks of the program through the C.A.R.E. program.

  • Concordia Language Villages is awarding 25 $1,000 Lead with Languages scholarships so that students can attend a summer youth immersion program this summer.  Students may choose a two- or four-week session in any of the 15 different languages offered: Arabic, Chinese, Danish, English, Finnish, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Swedish.
To enter the competition, participants are required to submit a video of up to 30 seconds that answers the question, "Why is learning [insert the specific language you are interested in] important to me? " as well as complete the application found at:  http://www.concordialanguagevillages.org/youth-dates-and-rates/costs-and-scholarships/lead-with-languages-scholarship

 The application deadline is April 15, 2017
  • SENIORS-interested in entering the workforce immediately following graduation, should consider applying for the MasterTech Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Apprentice Scholarship!   • The 2017 IBM High School Summer Internship Program offers students an opportunity to put their learning into practice through a hands-on, work-based summer learning experience at IBM.  Internships are available to those students interested in computing and technology, as well as those who are analytical thinkers and problem solvers. Interns will be part of real project work, team-based placements and group collaboration to ensure they're developing and deepening real and relevant skills, which will help set the stage for success in school and beyond. Interns work alongside the experts and will be expected to contribute to the 'big picture' just like any other team member does.  The internship program runs from June 5-July 28, 2017.  For more information and an application visit the Guidance Internship, Job, & Volunteer Opportunities webpage:

  • SOPHOMORES are encouraged to apply for Junior Leadership Columbia for the 2017-18 school year. In Junior Leadership Columbia, students participate in training surrounding eight leadership characteristics, learn about the business community, and are exposed to a number of sectors relative to topics such as community involvement, media, state government, civil service, health, and more. Sessions are organized by members of the community and experts from various organizations and institutions.  To be considered for the program, students must complete and return the following application form, with all required application materials by 5:00pm on Friday, March 24, 2017.

COLLEGE VISITS
  • FRESHMEN STUDENTS - Leadership In Practice  program is now accepting applications.  Leadership in Practice was developed by the Missouri Chamber Foundation to engage Missouri high school students in hands on, real world leadership training. The program is divided into five areas:  global leadership, civic leadership, economic leadership, ethical leadership and personal leadership.  The   2017 Leadership In Practice program is set for June 25-28, 2017.   The application period will run from   January 1, 2017 to April 1, 2017.
