SAN FRANCISCO: FOOTLIGHTS CALL FOR PLAYS/MUSICALS

Submission time has rolled around again! Yes, it's time to submit for  a coveted slot in the San Francisco Footlights reading series. These are Guild-sponsored opportunities for self-produced readings of members' new work.

All readings take place on the first Friday of the month at 7PM, at  The Phoenix Theatre (414 Mason Street San Francisco). The next dates available are: May 5 and June 2.

Submission Details:
  • You must be a Northern California resident to apply.
  • The reading is self-produced. This means you bring your own actors and handle any rehearsals you deem necessary before your reading. The theatre is NOT open for rehearsals before your reading.
  • Musicals must bring their own instrumentation.
  • We may book one full-length from one playwright or two back-to-back one-acts, depending on the submissions we receive.
  • One-act plays must be between 10 minutes and 55 minutes; full-lengths between 70 minutes and 2 hours. Please indicate the running time when applying.
  • Seated readings work best, so we can concentrate on the words.
  • Invite your friends and colleagues! We will promote your reading, be we can't guarantee an audience. It's up to you to bring in folks to listen and react.
Application Process:

Slots are assigned via random drawing after a  several-day submission window. To apply, email the title of your play,  a two-line description, and the running time to Suze Allen  before midnight on April 7th Please indicate your first and second choice of dates. It's preferable  to be available for both of the two dates mentioned above.
