CANTO Launches 11th WTISD Video Competition

   
World Telecommunication and Information Society Day (WTISD) spearheaded by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) will be observed on Tuesday, May 17th 2017. According to the ITU: "The theme for WTISD 2017 is in line with ITU's work highlighting the technological developments that have facilitated the emergence of Big Data, developing standards related to Big Data and identifying sources and uses of Big Data, including use of Big Data technologies for developing and monitoring improvements in information societies".

CANTO at Mobile World Congress   
 
Mobile World Congress is the world's largest gathering for the mobile industry, organized by the GSMA and held in the Mobile World Capital Barcelona, 27 February - 2 March 2017.  The Service Development  and Finance & Administration Manager attended the event  The team was supported by Bahamas Telecommunication Company, Ericsson, Oberthur and GSMA.

CANTO Holds BCRM and Masterclass Certification in Jamaica

This seminar reviews the best principles and practices for developing and implementing an effective Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) as outlined in ISO 22301, and the best practices for reviewing and maintaining an effective Business Continuity Plan.

The seminar provides an overview of 21st Century Business Continuity 
Management with  special focus on ISO 22301, the new International Standard for BCM. This course includes the Business Continuity and Resiliency Manager (BCRM) Exam.

ISO 22301 provides an international best practice framework for identifying        
potential threats, evaluating their impact and developing capability to minimize the
effect of critical incidents within a business organization.
You will review the key concepts of business continuity, understand the benefits of a business continuity management system and become familiar with the requirements of ISO 22301.

The event is from 20th -24th March , 2017 at the  Courtyard Marriott in Kingston,Jamaica.
 
 


CIT and Microsoft Trinidad & Tobago White Space Presentation

CANTO Secretary General Teresa Wankin and Business Development Officer Tricia Marcellin  attended  a
live TV white space presentation network broadband system by Caribbean Intel Technologies (CIT) who partnered with Microsoft Trinidad and Tobago (MSTT). 
 
For this demonstration CIT installed one  Client Premise Equipment (CPE)  at MSTT Mucurapo Road, St. James office which was wirelessly networked to CIT's TV White Space Base Station (BS) located at Park Street, Port of Spain approximately 2 miles away. For testing purposes CIT utilized a feed of 20 Mbps download and 15 Mbps upload broadband service provided by Massy Communications.  The live demo was successful.
