Farmers Market Dates Announced, Vendor Applications Available
The Lansdowne Farmers Market has announced the 2015 regular market schedule, with markets on 24 consecutive Saturday mornings beginning on May 23 and continuing through October 31. As usual, there will also be a bonus market prior to Thanksgiving on November 21. All markets take place in the established location in the lot at 30 N. Lansdowne Avenue. Special events this year include three Community Days, Kids' Day, and Dog Day. Applications are now being accepted from interested vendors; please be sure to read the complete Market Rules in addition to the official application.

Skippyjon Jones author at Lansdowne Library
Judy Schachner, best-selling author of the popular Skippyjon Jones children's book series, will read from books including her new release, Snow What, from 1:30 to 3:30 pm at the Lansdowne Public Library. Books will be available for purchase and signing by the author. Come in costume and win a prize. All proceeds benefit Animal Friends of Lansdowne.

Elm Street Meeting Seeks Input for Grant
The LEDC's Elm Street Program, which since 2011 has worked to implement neighborhood revitalization projects in the targeted Lansdowne-Yeadon neighborhood bounded by Nyack Ave., Baily Rd., Lansdowne Ave., and Union Ave. (map), will hold a public meeting next Tuesday, February 10, to discuss what projects residents and property owners would like to see in the Elm Street neighborhood over the next three years. Although projects must take place within the defined Elm Street neighborhood, input from any interested party is welcome regardless of residence. The meeting takes place at the LEDC office, 23 South Lansdowne Avenue, at 7:00 pm.

Next Market: Help Reopen the Lansdowne Theater
Our February 21 Winter Market coincides with the Historic Lansdowne Theater Corporation's petition signing drive to allow a referendum to appear on the May 19 ballot that would allow for alcohol to be sold in the Lansdowne Theater. This special performing arts center license would allow for the sale of alcohol ONLY in the theater before, during and after performances. Deadline Extended for Art in the Park Contest
The Union Gardens Elm Street Project, a program of the LEDC, announces a new and exciting opportunity for artists of every level to decorate one of five new concrete park benches. The benches will be installed at Interboro Park in Lansdowne. Design entries are due by March 13. Five designs will be selected and each winner will receive a $200 cash prize along with their name and the name of the winning design on a plaque displayed forever on the back of the bench. Decisions will be made by early April with painting to be undertaken in mid-April or May. Click here for complete details and rules.
