Dear fpcw family and friends,

Romans 15:7 says, "Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God."

What if this verse was the definition of hospitality?   Often our understanding of hospitality centers around entertaining others. Yet, the way in which Scripture defines hospitality and the way in which Jesus embodies hospitality gives us a much deeper meaning to this word that goes beyond entertaining. If we are hospitable in the way Christ has been hospitable to us, what does this look like? Pastor Jeff, in his sermon on Sunday, suggested that the Greek word from which we derive the word hospitality means something closer to loving and welcoming the stranger, immigrant and foreigner as we would our own family. Wow!  What would this look like?  How might this change we way treat others whom we do not know?

As we continue in this Lenten journey together, may we embody a Christ-like hospitality!

In Christ's love,
Rev. Erin Raska
