Farmers Market Ready for 2015 Season
Believe it or not we are a mere fortnight and two days away from the opening of the Lansdowne Farmers Market's 2015 season. The May 23 market begins a run of 24 consecutive Saturdays made richer by the market's roster of vendors and occasional special events. To help you plan, check out the week-by-week schdedule of vendors, artists, and musicians, and read the weekly Fresh Picks newsletter arriving each Thursday beginning in two weeks.

Tomorrow: Free Movie at Hoffman Park
Lansdowne's Parks and Recreation Board will host the first of its Movie Night in the Park series tomorrow night with a showing of Marvel Comics' action-packed sci-fi adventure Guardians of the Galaxy. The movie is scheduled to start at 8:30 pm, but feel free to arrive early and picnic or just enjoy a comfortable evening outdoors in the crown jewel of Lansdowne's many parks.

Town-Wide Yard Sale
This Saturday is Lansdowne's 14th Annual Town-Wide Yard Sale, taking place just about anywhere and everywhere you turn. The official yard sale map lists 74 addresses that are participating; Hard copies of the map and list are available at Mar-Win Shop N Bag, Regency Cafe, Lansdowne Borough Hall, and the Lansdowne Public Library.

Primary Election May 19: Alcohol Sales at Lansdowne Theater?
Here's the deal: If you want to help the Lansdowne Theater reopen as a viable performing arts venue where you can purchase an alcoholic beverage at a performance, it's imperative that you vote 'yes' for the referendum on the May 19 ballot. The referendum would allow a very specific license to be issued to performing arts facilities operated by non-profit corporations AND have 500 or more seats, and the only building in Lansdowne meeting these qualifiers is the Lansdowne Theater. ONLY patrons of the theater would be allowed to purchase a drink; drinks must be consumed in the theater. Regardless of your registered party-- Democrat, Republican or Independent -- you are eligible to, and encouraged to, vote on this referendum.

Memorial Day 5K, Parade
While it's too late for free race shirts and early bird rates, there's still time to sign up to take part in the ninth annual Lansdowne Memorial Day 5K. The USA Track and Field-certified race begins at 7:45 am on Monday, May 25, and will be followed by the Memorial Day parade beginning at 9 am. The parade route starts Lansdowne and Lacrosse Avenues and ends at the Penn Wood High School field for Memorial Day ceremonies.
