Present at the ribbon cutting was Chamber and Heart of Danville staff, Ambassadors, Mayor Mike Perros, Judge Executive Harold McKinney along with Cllr Audrey Wales, MBE and her consort, Chris Wales. They are visiting from Danville's Sister City,
Carrickfergus.

| Centre College Hosts Local Business Leaders Breakfast to Showcase New Soccer Complex |
|
On March 9, Centre College hosted a local business leaders breakfast to thank the business community for all it does to make central Kentucky a desirable place to live and work. President Roush noted that the business community is a key partner in Centre's ability to attract and retain ambitious students and the keen faculty and staff who support the college's mission.
President Roush updated the full room on Centre's student demographics and their graduation rate that averages between 82-87%, 20% higher than any other Kentucky college or university and among the highest in the nation. He noted that the student-faculty ratio stands at 10-1, which ensures "personal education, extraordinary success" and their budget is at $75 million and $100 million-plus in their physical plant over the past nine years. Centre College has kicked off its Third Century Campaign that will seek to raise $200 million or more and finish as they celebrate the College's 200th Anniversary on January 21, 2019.
 Athletic Director Brad Fields shared information on the new soccer complex. He noted, "What now stands on those 16 parcels of land, is an amazing 75 by 120 yard top-of-the-line natural grass soccer field, with permanent bleacher seating for 500, a first-class press box complete with separate broadcasting booth, a beautiful parents patio section, a state-of-the-art LED scoreboard (the first of its kind on our campus), and the Gordon Dabney Building which now serves as the home for five sports (men's soccer, women's soccer, field hockey, women's lacrosse, and softball) - complete with locker rooms, athletic training facility, laundry, and public restrooms." Brad also shared, "And after years of struggling to gain conference and NCAA postseason tournaments - not due to lack of worthy teams, but instead, a field that was below recommended or required minimums in size and amenities - we now find ourselves in the mix to host one, two, even three extra weeks of postseason events, translating to increased visitation by folks from out of town - more hotel stays, food, and entertainment dollars being spent right here." He concluded that they have already hosted the Kentucky State Boys All-Star Game this past November, something that has been restricted to the Lexington's and Louisville's of the Commonwealth, until now.
Several tours of the new complex were given after the breakfast, which was held in the Kitty Baird Center.
