Where to Buy Native Plants & Perennials
At the end of our recent seminar 'Rain Gardens: The Beauty and Benefits of Stormwater Management' at Avalon Library, several attendees asked us: Where can you buy native plants and perennials in Chicago?
Especially on the South Side, it's hard to find plant sources besides big-box stores, let alone native plant sources. We decided to do some research and create
a list of community plant sales, nurseries, and other places in the Chicagoland area where our members can buy quality native plants and perennials for their gardens!

From the Executive Director: An Inspiring Rain Garden Seminar
At our seminars, one of my favorite things is talking with folks who attend. This is one of the many ways we stay connected to our members. I also look forward to learning from our presenters because I live in a very old house in Beverly (built in 1888).

#ILGiveCommunity - Live Here, Give Here
The Chicago Bungalow Association will participate in the first ever #ILGiveCommunity Day. If you follow us on

Instagram or
Twitter, you may remember #ILGive Giving Tuesday, the annual day of donating to Illinois non-profits the Tuesday after each Thanksgiving. Because last Giving Tuesday raised a record $11.3 million for Illinois social good organizations,
Forefront, who organizes the Illinois Giving Days, has decided to create another state-wide Spring Giving Day.
"
#ILGiveCommunity will be a 24-hour, statewide movement to do good in our own communities," explains Forefront. "By giving locally we can have a major impact on the causes we care about most while building a stronger, healthier, more vibrant Illinois."
It will take place from 6pm on Tuesday, May 30 to 6pm on Wednesday, May 31. Follow us on social media during that time to learn how CBA has impacted Chicago communities, and how you can help us keep our resources free.
If you're active on social media and want to help us fundraise on #ILGiveCommunity Day, you can volunteer to be a Peer-to-Peer Fundraiser. Peer-to-Peer Fundraisers get set up with a profile connected to our online giving platform where you can include a short story about how CBA has helped you, and collect donations on our behalf. Send us an email to let us know you're interested, and we'll send you an invitation and simple instructions on how to help us in this way!

Bungalow Maintenance Panel
Join a panel of 4-5 of CBA's experts in the field on all things bungalow and vintage home. Specialists will address topics ranging from wood, roofing, masonry, heating/cooling and more! Each specialist will have a Q&A station to meet with you face-to-face to answer any questions or concerns you may have--so bring plenty of photos! Moderating the panel is Carla Bruni, Historic Preservation and Sustainability Consultant for CBA and Bungalow Maintenance 101 presenter.

Reclaimed Building Materials & DIY Projects: Why it Makes Dollars and Sense!

of Rebuilding Exchange will teach us how we can creatively use reclaimed building materials in our homes. We'll learn the many reasons why utilizing reclaimed building materials is economically, environmentally, and aesthetically beneficial.
The workshop will wrap up with a hands-on demonstration of how to clean and restore original door hardware to keep it out of a landfill and in your beautiful home!
