FAU's Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College hosted the annual Henry Morrison Flagler retreat at the Breakers Palm Beach Hotel on Oct. 4. Nearly 20 Flagler Scholars shared stories about their Outward Bound and Non-Profit program summer experiences made possible by the scholarship created by the William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust.

Florida Atlantic University will celebrate Homecoming 2019 “Owlstock” beginning Sunday Oct. 13 through Saturday, Oct. 19.

FAU’s John D. MacArthur Campus in Jupiter will host its annual “CarnivOWL” festival on October 15 from 5-8 p.m. Bring your friends and family to enjoy rides, food and fun. The event is co-sponsored by Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College.

The Florida Atlantic University-Max Planck Academy team is pleased to announce it will welcomes the first cohort of exceptional high school students in fall 2020.

We are excited to showcase the first-of-its-kind, STEM/R Academy program, and the new facilities, where Education is Reimagined for today’s most talented young students.

Faculty Spotlight
Carmen Varela, Ph.D. , is an assistant professor in the Charles E. Schmidt College of Science's Department of Psychology. Her areas of emphasis include memory, learning, problem solving, thalamic circuits, systems neuroscience and cognitive function.

The John D. MacArthur Campus presently enrolls more than 1,500 students and offers groundbreaking programs in research and education. Two of the world’s leading research organizations, the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience and Scripps Research Institute are located on the campus and offer high school, undergraduate and graduate students transformational experiences not found anywhere else in the world. The campus is home to the nationally-ranked Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College which provides 440 students with a live-in, all-honors educational experience and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, the largest membership program of its kind in the nation. Recognized as a center of scientific activity, the campus also serves as the headquarters for two of FAU’s primary research organizations, the Brain Institute and the Institute for Human Health and Disease Intervention (I-HEALTH).
