Storm Shelter Information

The Carl Junction School District is grateful for the community support to construct FEMA-rated safe room shelters. The shelters west of the Primary 2-3 building and south of the High School building will be open for public use when Severe Thunderstorm Warnings or Tornado Warnings are issued regardless of the time of day as capacity allows.

Your official notification that the Storm Shelters will be open will be through your NOAA Weather Radio. The Storm Shelters at the Primary 2-3 Building and at the High School will be opened when the National Weather Service issues a Severe Thunderstorm Warning or Tornado Warning for our area. If a weather warning is issued after school hours, the doors will unlock automatically and district staff and volunteers will be at the facility for the duration of the weather warning.

We also need volunteers to assist during weather events outside regular school hours.

For more information about the shelters, locations, shelter rules, and volunteering at the shelters, please go to link below or call (417) 649-7026, or come to the District Office at 206 S. Roney.

Sigler selected for state honor

CJ senior Edith Sigler has been selected for 2017 Missouri Scholars 100, a statewide program that honors 100 of Missouri's top academic students in the graduating class of 2017.

The selection is based primarily on a formula using the student's grade point average and ACT or SAT score. Each student nominated had to first meet criteria of an "Academic Decathlon," which included ten "events" designed to assure the academic strength of the student. To meet the decathlon requirements, the student must have a minimum GPA of 3.750, a minimum ACT score of 29 or a minimum SAT score of 1,900, be ranked in the upper ten percent of the class, and have taken upper level courses.

Edith plans to attend Pittsburg State University in the fall majoring in violin performance. She is the daughter of Dr. Kimra Ross-Sigler and Mr. James Sigler of Joplin, MO.

Bright Futures fights childhood hunger
An Update from Bright Futures Carl Junction

"A hungry child cannot digest their education." Grant D. Fairly

The Carl Junction School District is committed to making sure all students have what they need to be successful learners. Lack of resources causes challenges for students and can cause them to fall behind their peers. One of those resources is food.

A child who doesn't have regular access to enough food potentially faces both physical and psychological damage. In order to ensure our students have the greatest chance of success, Carl Junction offers two programs that aim at fighting hunger, the Weekend Food Pack Program and the Food4Families Program.

Best Choice Brand bar codes = cash for the weekend food program!

Please collect these bar codes and turn into any CJ School building office.
