Dear Friends,

It has been a very exciting time at St. Therese Chinese Catholic School! Our students continued to demonstrate their tremendous talent and commitment in science, spelling and knowledge of history by earning more awards in local and regional competitions. We also learned that our junior high English and Language Arts teacher Kelli Kelusiak was recognized as a Golden Apple finalist. Finally, I was genuinely surprised and honored to be awarded the Stanley C. Golder Leadership Award from the Golden Apple Foundation on March 23rd! I am incredibly proud to represent St. Therese and know that earning this award is a reflection of the support and commitment of everyone in our school and greater community toward making St. Therese the leading example of educational and cultural excellence in Chicago and beyond. Thank you for all of the congratulatory messages and your continued support!

Our Chinese New Year event on March 4th was another great success! I want to thank the many parents who gave so much of their time and energy to support this event.  It was also our great pleasure at CNY to honor Mr. and Mrs. Perry and Rose Marie Lau as our 2017 recipient of the  Lifetime Service Award . Mr. and Mrs. Lau have been a cornerstone of the St. Therese Parish family for years, and they generously give their talents to us in so many ways. Congratulations Perry and Rose Marie!

I would also like to thank once again all who helped to make CNY a financial success, including our event sponsors who helped underwrite the event and allowed us to raise the necessary funds to support the school:

St. Therese Students Compete in the
2017 Regional and National History Bees
Students continue school's five-year streak to Nationals!

On the evening of March 27th, 18 students represented St. Therese at the Chicago South Regional History Bee. Our students competed against other Regional qualifiers in a competitive format that included buzzer oral questioning and a written portion.

When the competition was completed, it was announced that five students from St. Therese had qualified for the National Finals in Atlanta in June.

Our Regional History Bee Competitors
This is the second time in school history we have had individuals qualify for the Regional Championship Round and the most competitors (5) we have had qualify to the national level.  This is the third time that Armelle Balogun has qualified for the National Finals, a feat only accomplished once before by Lambert Hu in 2015!

We are very proud of our current team for keeping this tradition alive and w ish our students well at this year's national competition in June.
