Our President, Rev. Samuel C. Tolbert, Jr., has successfully defended his dissertation for the degree Doctor of Ministry. This took place this afternoon at 2:00 pm (March 28, 2017) at Union University, Jackson, Tennessee.

Union University  is a private, evangelical Christian, liberal arts university located in Jackson, Tennessee, with additional campuses in Germantown and Hendersonville. Union was established in 1823. It has over 4000 students. Union holds as its core values of being excellence-driven, Christ-centered, people-focused, and future-directed. 

Union is one of the top tier institutions in the Southern Region, listed for each of the past 19 years by U.S. News & World Report, and is notable for having trained a United States Supreme Court justice, (Howell Edmunds Jackson)  and in the sports world as the place where   Bear Bryant  began his football coaching career.  Union University is accredited by the  Southern Association of Colleges and Schools  (SACS). 

President Tolbert's Research Dissertation is entitled "Equipping African American Men to do Missions Through the Greater St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church of Lake Charles, Louisiana." His plans are to implement the strategies at Greater St. Mary and begin introducing and implementing the strategies throughout the network of churches in The National Baptist Convention of America International, Inc. President Tolbert's words after his successful defense are "To God be the Glory!"

His graduation is scheduled for May 20, 2017, at 2:00 pm, on the Campus of Union University in Jackson, Tennessee.
