A Mission-Driven Church
Our Mission...
The Memorial Tabernacle Church has come together by the Holy Spirit for the specific purpose of preaching and teaching the word of God, (the Bible), and about Jesus Christ, God's son, and to proclaim the gospel of the Kingdom of God to the North Oakland Community and its environs; to bring healing to the brokenhearted and deliverance to the oppressed.

Notes On Sunday's Sermon
[Note: This sermon was inspired after listening to former President of the United States, Barack Obama's speech in New Hampshire, November, 2016. See video via YouTube:
https://youtu.be/5AhRqg0ADbk.]
In this very simple letter to the Philippian community, an incarcerated Paul wrote these words to express his determination to hang in there no matter how bleak the hour or how challenging the char
ge. This straightforward declaration of endurance was Paul 's way of demonstrating his appreciation and encouragement to the followers of Christ to continue in the faith. Paul having learned the secret for endurance and victorious living said, "I am content." By this Paul meant: I have learned to adjust no matter what circumstances surround me. I have learned that when the going gets tough, the tough gets going.
Paul knew that giving up was not an option, because with Christ on his side, he had access to unlimited resources. And with access to unlimited resources, Paul had available to him the kind of power that gave him the ability to do the work of the Lord.
But, unlike many of us, Paul did not stop there. He did not get caught up in the "I-cans" or "I-can-potentially-do's" of life. It wasn't enough for him to know what he could potentially do! Paul was not just taking an inventory of the unused/unopened potentialities and possibilities in his cabinet. No! Paul was making a declaration! He was setting the record straight. He was reporting on the strength, which laid the firm foundation for his ministry. Paul knew what he was doing, with whom he was doing it, through whom he was doing it, and by whom he was doing it. He was declaring his actual strength as he proceeded to do the work of the Lord. In essence, Paul was say, "I'm fired up, ready to go!"

The Resurrection of Our Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ
Season of Lent
March 1st - April 13th
Lent is a 40-day fast and will run up until the Saturday before Easter or Resurrection Sunday (not including Sundays within this period). The Lent period reflects when Jesus fasted and suffered in the desert for 40 days and 40 nights, before he started his ministry.
According to the Bible, he was tempted by Satan during this time, but each time he managed to refuse his temptations. People follow Jesus' example and give up vices in a bid to grow closer to God as Easter or Resurrection Sunday approaches.
Christian Education: Bible Study
Tuesdays, 7:00PM
During this season of Lent, we invite all to be a part of our Tuesday evening Bible Study Class as we always do.
"Then Jesus said to His disciples, 'If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.'" (Matthew 16:24)
Join us each week as we revisit the last steps of Jesus before he went to the cross. Let us walk with Jesus towards the cross. Doors open at 6:40PM, and class begins at 7:00PM. Class is held in the main sanctuary.
All are welcome to learn, grow, explore, and engage!
