HOLOCAUST SURVIVOR SPEAKER:
Michele Rodri
Sunday, March 12, at 3:00 pm

Michele was a young child when Nazi Germany invaded her native France. Shortly after the occupation, a German soldier found her playing in the street and sent her to the Drancy transit camp. Her brother soon managed to secure her release, and brought her to a convent where she concealed her Jewish identity. She later moved to another village where she lived with a non-Jewish foster family. She hid with them until she was liberated. Michele speaks regularly at LAMOTH and encourages people to always stand up for one another.

The talk will be preceded by a docent-led tour at 2:00 pm.

Opening Reception: The Inner World of Ilse Kleinman
Sunday, March 26 at 2:00 pm

Join us on March 26 for an opening reception for "The Inner World of Ilse Kleinman: Reflections on Oppression," featuring a presentation by the artist's son, Dennis Kleinman, and remarks by art psychotherapist Dr. Esther Dreifus-Kattan. Artist Ilse  Kleinman and her parents fled Berlin in 1933 due to growing antisemitism in Nazi Germany. The family settled in South Africa, where the rise of apartheid reminded Kleinman of the cruelty and dehumanization experienced by Jews during the Holocaust. Her art incorporates Holocaust- and apartheid-related motifs.
With gratitude to the Joseph Drown Foundation for its generous support of free Holocaust education and school tours, and to the Max H. Gluck Foundation for its generous support of the Share Our Stories Project.
