Eva Trenk
Sunday, February 26, at 3:00 pm
Eva Trenk was four years old when
she and her family were deported to a labor camp in Zilina, a city in Western Slovakia. Within a year, Eva, her mother and brother managed to escape the camp and acquire false identification papers, which allowed them to live as non-Jews in several different villages. Toward the end of the war, they were caught and sent to a concentration camp in Sered, where they remained until the Soviet army liberated them in April 1945. After the war, Eva married and had a son. They lived in Slovakia until 1969 when they immigrated to the United States.
The talk will be preceded by a docent-led tour at 2:00 pm.
With gratitude to the Joseph Drown Foundation for its generous support of free Holocaust education and school tours, and to the Max H. Gluck Foundation for its generous support of the Share Our Stories Project.
