Dalton, GA- Based Shaw Industries Eyes on Next 50 Years
Shaw Industries on Friday marked 50 years that saw the building of one of the world's biggest flooring companies, but its chief talked a lot about innovation and change for the future.

"Technology, the Internet, equipment technology and automation will change everything we do and every job we have," said Shaw CEO Vance Bell. "We must be open to that change."

Bell, who spoke at the Dalton Trade Center to a large group of employees, said that 50 years is "a great cause of celebration."

Georgia Northwestern Prepping for March Madness Skills USA 
The post-season is officially underway as schools across Georgia get ready to showcase the state's top programs. One Peach State college that saw its run for a national championship fall short in 2016, hopes to bring home the hardware in 2017.

More than three dozen students from all six campuses of Georgia Northwestern Technical College will strap on their helmets and compete for the title "Number One In Georgia" in just five weeks. A capacity crowd is expected at the Georgia International Conference Center as Bobcat teams will be competing at the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference March 23-25 in Atlanta, Georgia.

ESPLOST
Schools are vital to a community's success. On that, there was general agreement  at a lunch hosted by the League of Women Voters of the Dalton Area.

But just what would a proposed Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (ESPLOST) do to improve local schools? 

Both Whitifled County Schools and Dalton Public Schools have a complete list of the projects included on their website.

Advance voting is underway until March 17th and election day is March 21st.
