Theodore Judah students inspire by sharing dreams
Have you ever wondered what a child's view of the world is and what their dreams are?

Teachers and school administration collaborated at Theodore Judah Elementary School to engage students in lessons about history and civil rights by coming up with an, "I Have a Dream" lesson plan.

Principal Canen Peterson said the idea was to have all students learn about civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and write their own speeches about their dreams to not only share within the school, but in a video blog within the community.

Each lesson was taught differently depending on the grade, but all students K-5 wrote their own speeches. A common theme in all grade levels was of kindness, peace and equality, said Peterson.

"We felt that fostering students to have dreams and think outside the box, pay it forward, to be nice to mankind is important," he said.
