From the Bishop
I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity; and also a true human being, born of the Virgin Mary, is my Lord. He has redeemed me, a lost and condemned being. He has purchased and freed me from all sins, from death, and the power of the devil, not with gold or silver but with his holy, precious blood and his innocent suffering and death. In the midst of many thoughts about the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation I have wondered what it is I personally I value or cherish about our Lutheran theology and heritage. There are so many things to lift up as gifts of the Lutheran Reformation - the centrality of the Gospel, Law/Gospel theology, the catechisms, sacraments, left and right kingdoms to name a few. But what captures my heart, brings me comfort and assurance, and sustains my life and ministry is the freedom of the Gospel.   continue reading

Conversations toward a Social Statement
All ELCA members are invited to a conversation toward a new social statement on Women & Justice.

Participate as an individual or as part of a group or suggest the current church-wide study to your own small group. This modular study includes a range of topics that can be used in different combinations to meet the learning needs and interests of different groups or individuals.  The response period runs until Aug. 31, 2017.
