Love Yourself: A Galentine's Day Celebration

Whether or not you have a special Valentine, this is the season for love – and that includes supporting other women – and remembering to love yourself.

Grab your girlfriends and head to The Pop Shop in Collingswood on Thursday, Feb. 8, for “Love Yourself: A Gal-entine’s Day Celebration’’ of women’s friendships and reminder to care for you.

This relaxing evening will include comfort food, community, fun and learning, with a focus on self-care. We'll relax with crafts, explore mindfullness, learn about stress and nutrition and more!

Sponsored by the Pop Shop, the Courier-Post and Lourdes Wellness Services, it  also will raise funds to support victims of domestic violence in South Jersey.

A comfort food buffet, complete with a warm brownie sundae dessert, will be offered starting at 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Pop Shop party room, 729 Haddon Ave., Collingswood. The Pop Shop is a BYOB.

Dr. Dorothea Atkins of Lourdes Wellness Services will lead a discussion on the importance of self-care and stress release for mind, body and spirit. Atkins is a manual lymph drainage massage therapist and an instructor at Lourdes Institute of Wholistic Studies. She owns Holos Touch, LLC.

Collingswood personal fitness trainer and triathlete Kelly Mcfarland will give a wellness talk, “Know Your Numbers,’’ and guests can get their blood pressure taken and find out their BMI. McFarland is certified by the American Council of Exercise (ACE).

Yoga instructor and color therapist Amy LeRoy of Collingswood will offer a mindfulness exercise.

A craft station will provide a chance to get creative and bring home a Valentine reminder of the importance of self-care all year long.

And the South Jersey Knitting Club will offer lessons on finger knitting, an easy and portable stress-relief practice.

Tickets are $35, with $10 of each ticket going to the Camden County Women’s Center, to support victims of domestic violence.

The first 10 guests to register will get a free chair massage. All participants will get take-home goodies, a chance to win door prizes and resources for self-care all year long.

Advance ticket purchase required and are non refundable.
