Andrew P.S. is this week’s first class student.  Andrew is in Mrs. Siem’s first grade class.  He is such a kind and giving student, and always makes sure to help his peers when they need it.  Andrew works really hard all day long, and puts his best effort into everything he does.  He loves to tell stories, and has even built up great courage to speak in front of the class.  Andrew loves math, especially equations with the answer “14”.  Andrew also works hard at reading and science!  Andrew shows first class behavior in the classroom, out at recess, and in the lunch room.  If you ever need something done, Andrew is the guy to ask!  Way to go, Andrew!  Keep up the great work!

The Celebrate Families Dinner and Silent Auction is this THURSDAY, March 23!
RAPT is  very excited to again host this awesome fundraising event for the school!  One reason this night is so successful is because of the  great families that lend a helping hand at this event.   We are in need of buffet helpers, raffle & silent auction assistants, dining area monitors, cash ticket helpers, etc!  Find a friend or signup your family and lend a helping hand! We also have spots for students to sign up!  Or....volunteer side by side with our terrific Richfield staff!  Simply click on this link-   http://signup.com/go/ZY7Mpp, enter your email address and find a job & time that is convenient for you!  Your help is greatly appreciated!

If you have any questions with volunteering, please contact Lisa Weston at  westonl@richfield.k12.wi.us.  If you have any questions in general about the Celebrate Families Dinner & Silent Auction, please contact Dawn Sericati at  dawn@sericati.com.

See you on March 23th!

Self-esteem: confidence in one’s own worth and abilities; self-respect

According to Psychology Today, happy people like themselves!  People that were interviewed also expressed higher levels of optimism and tended to be more hopeful when complications occurred in their daily lives.  This same article explained that individuals with higher self esteem and higher levels of optimism were also physically healthier and recovered from illnesses more quickly.  Individuals with higher levels of self esteem also tend to be more willing to take risks and see failures or mistakes as opportunities for growth.

So how can we raise self esteem levels in our students?  By offering them opportunities for self exploration and self understanding, we are offering them opportunities to raise their self esteem. By focusing on their strengths and promoting their achievements and efforts, we are also raising their level of self worth.  By setting students up for success and putting them into safe, trusting environments, we are helping them learn to like who they are.  By reminding them of their greatness and pointing out their strengths, we are reminding them how wonderful they are.

As we work to raise our students’ level of self esteem, we are also working to raise our own.  As we focus more on the positive aspects of our lives and cue into our own strengths, we will tend to feel happier as well! When we are happier, those around us also tend to be happier.

So...here is to a happy, self-fulfilling weekend for our students and us!  Thank you for all you do!

Hartford Area Schools and Neighboring Districts

The Hartford area schools have been seeing a higher need for parent information on various issues surrounding our students.  To be proactive, we have been attending a few Parents United presentations sponsored by the area schools in Waukesha County.

The Hartford Schools have agreed to try two programs this year and see how they are received by parents and neighboring school districts.

These events are open to all residents of our community as well as neighboring school districts.
