AHYA Board Meeting Updates
The AHYA Board had a great weekend in Denver, CO. They started the weekend with a tour of the Colorado State Capitol Building. They were able to see the Colorado House of Representative and State Senate in session, learn about some history of Colorado and went up into the gold plated dome at the top of the Capitol Building. After this they walked around the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo. Then on Saturday we got down to business and discussed some more important details for the year. Here are the highlights:
  • This year AHYA will be putting on a Dance on the Friday night before Youth National classes start. They encourage everyone to come as they are and enjoy some music, dancing, and entertainment.
  • This year the Parade of Regions will be moved into the Jim Norick arena. There will be No Motorized Vehicles. Regions are encouraged to be creative in how they show their regional pride and are encouraged to come with a prepared 30 sec chant or jingle.
  • AHYA will be selling congratulation bears and horses at YNL for you to send to your friends or family as a special surprise at the show.
  • Also, make sure you come to the AHYA Convention this year as we are shortening it to 1.5 hrs and changing up the format.
If you have any questions or just want to know how to get more involved in AHYA, you can reach out to your Regional Youth Coordinator or email us.

What Does The Arabian Horse Mean To You?
The Arabian Horse Association (AHA) asked YOU to tell us what the Arabian horse meant to you. Over a two day period, individuals posted on our Facebook and Instagram accounts and told us in one word or small phrase, what their Arabian horse stood for. We then took all of the words and made a word cloud (an image composed of words used in a particular text or subject, in which the size of each word indicates its frequency or importance). Inspired by the word cloud and what it stands for, AHA will be launching a NEW membership campaign focusing on YOUR responses. Make sure to stay tuned!

AHYA Board Scholarship Program
AHYA is working to find a new way to encourage youth to participate on the AHYA Board of Directors. At convention it was discussed that we are trying to fund a scholarship program for those individuals that are serving on the board. The idea behind these scholarships, is to encourage the youth to participate and have an active role in AHYA, as well as develop them as future leaders.
With the right funding, we would like to award a $1,000 scholarship to each Regional Director. We are hoping to start this scholarship fund with $22,000.  So far we have raised $14,700. Please consider your region donating to this scholarship fund. We would like you to join us in providing opportunities to reward those outstanding youth members who are the future of our breed.
To donate please email Brenna Whitlock.

USEquestrian Lettering Program
Interested in lettering as a high school athlete? Have horses always taken up all your time, so you have never been able to commit to volleyball or football, soccer or tennis? Well Equestrians are athletes too and the USEquestrian has a letter program catered to those Equestrian Athletes that spend their time at the barn instead of in the gym or on the sports field. If you are interested, check out the program  here  and see what USEquestrian has to offer.
