Pastor's Message

  Dear Friend in Faith,

There are times when faith can feel solid and certain to us. I would venture that the popular image of faith, portrayed in the media, is a quality of certitude, of Christians as people who know exactly what they believe with a firm sense of rules, boundaries and how to respond to the world around us. Some want a faith that is fixed and unchanging, a sure and certain solid rock built on the promises and presence of God.

I suspect all of us want a faith that we know will always hold us up. In my experience, faith can also have a very fluid...

Ignite Moves to 11 am in Chapel
On Sunday, March 5, our "Come as you are" worship service in the chapel moves from 11:15 to 11 am.Contemporary music will continue to dominate the service, led by the Ignite Band and worship leaders Andria Fennig and Tommy Strawser. Communion is served every week and there is a full sermon, just like at 8 and 9:30 am. Experience Ignite.

Worship at PVUMC
Paradise Valley United Methodist Church (PVUMC) is in the season of Lent, which began on Ash Wednesday. The new worship series is called Gifts of the Dark Wood. Join us for worship at 8, 9:30 or 11 am. Because it's the first of the month, we'll celebrate communion at all services.

Childcare is available in G1 for all services, and children's classes are offered at 9:30 am. Click here to see our church calendar page to find rooms and times of all PVUMC classes and events.

Ignite begins at 11 am this week - a change from 11:15 am. This alternative service, held in the chapel, offers communion every week and a "children's corner" for supervised play.

Books cost $12, and are available on the patio after worship or in the church office during the week. Online devotions are also available, like the video devotions from UMC.org. Ignite faith, transform your life and create community at PVUMC.

Commitment Sunday, March 5
On Sunday, March 5, you're invited to pledge your financial commitment to PVUMC for 2017-2018. Your pledge to give consistently to your church -- weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually -- helps us plan our programs and ministries responsibly. Our annual budget is created based on the pledges we receive. Pledge online or bring your pledge card to church this Sunday, when there will be a time before communion to turn in your card.
Pathways Spring 2017 Semester: Strength in International Missions
The Pathways Spring 2017 guidebook includes several paths you can take on your spiritual journey of the heart, mind, soul and strength. As two mission teams get ready to go to Costa Rica and Guatemala, listed under the Strength Pathway, we invite you to pray for them.

The Costa Rica team continues its partnership with the Methodist Orphanage of Costa Rica, Hogar Metodista and the Guatemala team will lead a medical team to provide medical services to people in rural areas. Both teams will hold Vacation Bible Camp programs.

If you are a Stakeholder, look for emails from the teams during the week, with photos and descriptions of their daily work among the people.

Thank you for supporting PVUMC missions and ministries.
