OM's Class of 2017 Commencement Ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 1 at 8:00am at Merriweather Post Pavilion. Stay tuned for details on tickets, parking, and more.

OM FAB Panera Night
Come on out and support FAB on Monday, March 20, from 6:00-9:00pm at Panera on Dobbin Road. No flier is needed and our arts programs will receive 10% of all sales.

Strutting with the Staff
The Bright Minds Foundation is hosting the 3rd Annual Strutting With the Staff dance contest on  Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 7:00-9:00pm at the Jim Rouse Theater in Wilde Lake High School. Come cheer on Ms. Orlando and her team of teachers and staff members as they compete in a dance-off against teams from 10 other high schools. 
Help your OM teachers win by voting with dollars online with Bright Minds Foundation at   brightmindsfoundation.org, or on March 22 at the event. $1=1 vote!
Tickets are $5 on the Bright Minds web site or you can purchase your tickets on the night of the event.

Enjoy a healthy, tasty dinner and help the PTSA at the same time! On  Tuesday, March 21st, dine at Nalley Fresh from 5:00 to 8:00 PM , and the PTSA will receive a donation of 10% of your order. The PE Department would like to thank all of those students and families who helped us raise money for the American Heart Association this year.  To date we have raised over 5000$.  We are so proud of Thunder Hill!  

Congratulations to Chase Wiley, Riley Hohn, and Lailah Simeon for their artwork on display at the HCPSS "Imagining Home" art show.  Their work is on display at the Howard County Arts Council.

Choose Civility Poster and Video Contest, Entries Accepted March 1-26
All HCPSS students in grades K-12 are encouraged to enter the countywide Choose Civility poster and video contest. This year's theme is Kindness Creates Community, focusing on making communities stronger and inspiring others. Students may work individually or in groups.
Submitted pieces will be on exhibit at the Columbia Art Center April 5-20. Winners will be honored and announced during a reception and awards ceremony on Wednesday, April 5.
The Choose Civility Poster and Video contest in presented in partnership with HCPSS, the Columbia Association Art Center and the Howard County Library System. Full details, including entry criteria and submission information, are available  online.

Howard County Elementary School Honor Band and Gifted and Talented Band Spring Concert

The public is invited to the spring concert of the Elementary School Honor Band and Gifted and Talented Band. Council of Elders Academy - What Parents Need to Know Bullying Prevention and Social Media

Representatives from the Howard County Police Department and the Howard County Public School System will discuss bullying and the use of social media. Come learn about bullying reporting and investigative procedures. Additionally, parents will learn about various social media sites students are accessing and how to monitor social media usage.

Building Resilience: Workshop for Parents on How to Support your Child's Emotional and Mental Health

Join local health professionals, community agencies and guest speaker, child psychiatrist - Jeff Bostic, EdD, MD for this incredible workshop for parents! Learn how youth and adolescents experience stress within today's culture and how to use resilience to support your child's social and emotional health and development. Attendees will receive mental health resources currently available within Howard County.

A-OK Mentoring 
Make a difference-help enhance the academic and social development of identified Howard County elementary school students in schools near you through a consistent, supportive relationship with a child.  Volunteers must be available weekday, daytime hours to meet one-on-one with an assigned student during the school day or with students in small groups in afterschool programs.
