                                  April   School Vacation
Winter is loosing its grip, but soon buds will be bursting and birds will be nesting.
During the April school vacation, FOFAH has organized two nature workshops for kids to explore the water, mud, trees and sky of Hilltop Farm.

Monday, April 10th - "Wet and Wild with Amphibians". Explore the wetlands at Hilltop Farm.  Learn about our native amphibians (frogs and salamanders), and their spring migration. Discuss why spring time is so important to these very cool creatures. Observe frog eggs, learn frog songs, and how to catch these slippery creatures.

Tuesday, April 11th - "Long Journey for Small Birds". Explore the river banks and forests of Hilltop Farm looking for evidence of birds migrating up the CT River to their summer homes.  Learn how and why birds migrate, the songs of these important birds, and how to increase the populations of song birds in our town.

Registration is required. Sessions are grouped by age. Fee for each participant is $15 for each session or $25 for both days.
Ages 4 to 6- 12:30pm to 2:30pm.    Ages 7 to 9- 2:30pm to 4:30pm.  For application and the latest information on Spring School Vacation, as well as Summer Programs, see www.HilltopFarmSuffield.org/NatureKids

Earth Day- Come Fly a Kite!

Come celebrate Earth Day on Saturday, April 22nd. From 1pm to 4pm there is a special program to build and fly kites. Participants can choose a kite design and build it right there. Participants will learn how each kite style uses the flow of air to create lift around the kite and carry it up into the sky.

This is a project developed by a member of Suffield Troop 10961 as part of her Girl Scout's Silver Award Project and uses the concepts of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) to determine how the kites fly and how high it will rise.

All ages are welcome to join. Kites available for purchase or bring your kite along. Share how your kite flies or just add your kite to the sky. We look forward to seeing you. For further information on Earth Day, see

April is National Volunteer Month

FOFAH Loves its volunteers - all year long. We thank all our volunteers and friends who have helped on the farm. We invite you to volunteer at Hilltop Farm. Your workplace, club, class or group will be welcome to volunteer, too.

Volunteering allows you to meet new people, maybe develop a new skill or teach your skill to another, all while you make a difference in your community. Regular workdays are  the each Second Saturday of the month.

There are many areas where you can help. Some of the areas where we could use your help are
farming, building, weeding, office work, painting, planting, fundraising, teaching, directing projects, PR, garden design, photography, leading nature walks, mowing, engineering, spring cleaning, fence building, assembling a donated greenhouse, videography, building picnic tables, website updates, event set up and more.  Contact FOFAH at  860-758-0668 to explore volunteer opportunities.

FOFAH is an all volunteer, non-profit, tax-exempt, charitable corporation dedicated to restoring Hilltop Farm into an educational and recreational resource for the community. All donations go to the improvement of the farm. Many thanks to the volunteers for their dedication and community support that has allowed FOFAH to advance the restoration of the Hilltop Farmstead.
