"Lord, I give my life to you. I trust in you, my God!."
Psalm 25:1-2

I love how David models submission in this Psalm. He is clearly in great distress, yet he begins by surrendering and trusting in God.  When we see how perfectly trustworthy God is, it makes sense to  put our very lives in His hands.

This level of surrender and trust cannot help but change our hearts as we pray. As we learn to trust and surrender, our faith rises and we become more expectant. We begin to wait on the Lord, expecting change to come. Our hope changes from a 'wish' to a firm unwavering belief.

Let's pray with surrendered hearts because we trust in our God!

Word Riders bring Hope

The Philippine Bible Society has an incredible partnership with a group of Bikers called 'Word Riders. These are Christian Bikers who ride together to share the Word of God. So, working with help from the National Police, the Word Riders and the Bible Society gave New Testaments to 35,000 people recovering from drug dependence.

This distribution comes following the hard-line approach of the government to drugs. Huge numbers of drug dependent people have surrendered to the authorities and the Bible Society want to help them seize their chance at new life with freedom in Christ.

So during this massive distrubution event a Pastor encouraged the huge numbers of people to read the Bible. "By reading it, you will find freedom, peace, truth and guidance in your daily living," he said. A second pastor also challenged the crowd , "There are many dare challenges today in the internet, but this time, I want to challenge you. Please read that Bible from beginning to end and you will see and experience transformation. It will free you from your addiction because God will help you in this process."

Please pray that the New Testaments that each person received will help them start a new life in Jesus. Pray that they will be strengthened as they continue to leave addiction behind and step into full freedom. Let us pray in faith that these dear people will discover the joy of a life wholly surrendered to Jesus.

Battling the widfires that have devastated so many lives.
Wildfires in Chile

15th January 2017, saw the start of the worst wildfires in Chile's modern history. Lasting weeks, the flames destroyed more than 580,000 hectares of forest, crop and homeland. Many families have been left reeling after the fires that caused 11 deaths. 1,108 people were hospitalised and more than 1,000 homes were totally destroyed.

Pray for the families who have lost loved ones, livelihoods, homes and possessions. Pray for the families of the Chilean Bible Society as in some cases they have lost their homes and suffered injury. Pray for the team as they work through their own pain, to bring help to those who have been left distraught.

The team will be working in partnership with churches and volunteer groups to offer God's Word and Trauma Healing to suffering families, fire-fighters, the police and all those who have been battling the blaze. The Chilean Bible Society is training pastors and Christian leaders in Trauma Healing therapy.

Pray that the Lord will begin the work of healing for all those who are distraught right now. Pray for the Trauma Healing training, as it equips leaders and pastors in the Christian community with the necessary tools to help the victims in the long term.

Please pray for the staff of Chilean Bible Society in charge of the ministry. Pray that they will continue finding guidance in the Lord as they get back on their feet themselves, while also supporting others through this time of great trauma.

Workshop 2017 Breaking Ground in Kuwait

God continues to open doors in places once firmly closed to the gospel. We must not give up hope that all people will be reached. The work and ministry of the Bible Society in the Gulf is a great example of an answer to prayer.

The Kuwaiti Church is growing and Kuwaiti Christians are beginning to make themselves known in more open and public ways. While there is still an expanding underground church, many are beginning to worship, teach and meet openly.

The Bible Society is working with people from many different ethnic backgrounds to resource Bibles and teach God's Word. January saw a number of conferences - one with 80 people gathering for a worship called 'Can we trust the Bible?' Another conference was held in February at the National Evangelical Churches in Kuwait where 65 people came along to learn about the incarnation of Jesus. It is so encouraging to hear people attending, not just to learn, but so that they can then go and spread what they learn to others who are hungry to draw closer to Jesus also.

Mahet, runs a safe house for maids and shared:   "I am glad to attend and listen... to teach it to others in my church. The Bible Society is always ready to share us with new ideas and important topics that help Christians in Kuwait to grow spiritually. Thanks BS."

Please pray for all those who attended the seminar and learned further biblical truths about their faith. Pray that they may be emboldened to share their knowledge and faith with their friends, family, and colleagues.
