TOURNAMENT CAPITAL VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
The Tournament Capital Volunteer Program is a Sports Council initiative aimed at providing recognition to the many volunteers who contribute so much to our community throughout the year. Draws will happen on a monthly basis until Volunteer Week in April, when we will be giving away prizes to 6 volunteers! After the big giveaway during Volunteer Week we will empty our draw barrel and start collecting names for another year. In order to be eligible all you have to do is volunteer at an event that the Kamloops Sports Council manages the volunteers for- it's that easy! Upcoming events include the 2017 Legacy Performance Games, the 2017 Special Olympic BC Summer Games, 2017 Ribfest and the 2017 BrewLoops Beer & Bike Festival.... just to name a few!
WE HAVE A NEW WINNER!
The draw has been done and we are excited to announce
Lorraine Loveday
as our April volunteer winner!
We had a chance to sit down with Lorraine and ask her a few questions about her experience being a volunteer.
Why do you volunteer?
The joy and the happiness, and the good I feel deep in my core for givin
g back is awesome.
Any special moments you can recall while volunteering?
While volunteering at Hockey Day in Canada I got to meet Trevor Linden, I didn't realize how tall he is! As well as meeting all the new people while volunteering.
What motivates you to continue to volunteer?
It makes me feel good.
I
s there anyone who inspires you?
David and Eleanor Hawks. They are a part of the Salvation Army and they give back to the community as much as they possibly can. They inspire me to give back as much as possible too.
If you could lunch with anyone, who would it be and why?
Nancy Green, because I just love her. I see her every day and she is just such an inspiration and such a beautiful person.
Thank you Lorraine for stopping in and talking to us, we hope you enjoy your new Tournament Capital Volunteer jacket!
Check back next month for our newest winner!
