Faculty Member Receives Fellowship! 

Today, the American Council on Education (ACE) announced that Dr. Claudia D. Nelson, Coppin State University Faculty Senate President and Associate Professor of Political Science, was named an ACE Fellow for the 2017-18 academic year.   These emerging leaders are  immersed in the culture, policies, and decision-making process equipping them to  take on real-world challenges  in higher education.

Northrop Grumman Opens a Cyber Security Program at Coppin State University

Last week,  Lt. Gov. Boyd Rutherford, MHEC Secretary, Dr. James Fielder, Jr. and Senator Barbara Robinson were on hand to help Coppin State kick off its Cyber Warrior program.  Northrop Grumman Corporation and Baltimore-based tech company, Digit All City, entered into an agreement with the Department of Defense Mentor-Protége program to offer cyber security at Coppin State.  Students pursuing degrees in tech fields will start as soon as April toward the additional certifications required for careers in cyber security.  "Coppin State Reps HBCU Baseball in DC Grays Showcase"

Coppin State's baseball team is featured in the Afro Newspaper for their work with the DC GRAYS, named in honor of Negro League champions, Homestead Grays. Their mission is to give African-American players a chance  to hone their skills against the country's top college players. They also seek to give inner city youth an opportunity to learn the game of baseball. Read the entire story here:  AFRO article

2017 Top 100 Women

Congratulations to Dr. Joan Tilghman, Chair – Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program, Helene Fuld School of Nursing - College of Health Professions, for her selection by the Daily Record as one of its 2017 Top 100 Women

Dr. Tilghman will be honored at an event at the Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on April 24, 2017.
