Now that St. Patrick's Day is here, I thought you'd like some authoritative Irish humor:

Having been educated in Catholic grammar schools a "certain number of years ago," I can assure you that nuns of that era were quite stern with their students.  Anyone who was ever taught by an Irish nun in grammar school can recall the commands, "The world is a sinful place, and it's your job to fix it!," along with "You'll stay quiet and do what you're told!"  These well-meaning commands were often coupled with more than one smartly pinched earlobe, were one to question authority.

In that vein, here's a story of a young boy from Ireland who was taken to his first funeral by the nuns in his school who had lost their parish pastor to old age:  At the cemetery, as the casket was lowered into the ground, the Irish priest presiding over the services said the usual prayers, ending with "In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost."  However, what the young boy heard, was "In the name of the Father, the Son and in the hole he goes."  So for the next 20 years, every time the boy blessed himself, he would then say "In the name of the Father, the Son and in the hole he goes!"

His explanation when he found out how mistaken he was all those years? "Of course I said that for years!  Are you kidding me?  You think I'm going to talk back to an Irish priest or nun?!"

As someone who's Irish himself, I can appreciate that humor, and hope you do, too.

What's not funny is being injured in some way, or being accused of a crime.  If we can help you in one of these areas, don't hesitate to contact us.

In the meantime, here's on old Irish poem:

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
