Dear St. George families,
     When I was attending a Principal's Retreat at the Diocese yesterday, conversation led to seeing the face of Jesus and hearing His voice in our everyday lives. It made me recall two specific incidences in which I did, in fact, see His face and hear his voice. Both were through a child. One morning a five year old kindergarten student asked his teacher, "How was the rest of your day yesterday?" I was amazed to hear that such a young child could show such great concern for how his teacher's evening was after they left school the day before. The fact that even a five year old can show they care makes it seem so easy. Actually, now that I think about it, it's more than just caring - it's caring about someone other than himself. As we journey through life, from childhood to adulthood, most people grow out of a sense of selfishness and into a way of selflessness. It only took this kindergartner five years - what an accomplishment!
     On another occasion, as I was in the cafeteria with the kindergarten class, a little girl looked across the table and asked me, "Do you know what I like best about coming to school?" I replied, "What?" She answered, "Seeing you." At that moment, as she smiled, I saw the face of Jesus. I try to look for our Savior every day, but when I am in my "busy" principal state of mind, I often times neglect to focus on really seeing Him. We know He is always near us - sometimes right under our noses, shining through the words or actions of a child. Or looking us straight in the eyes, as a stranger holds the door open for us. Perhaps it's a loved one simply sitting at your side - listening.
     I am working on being more aware of Jesus' presence so I can recognize Him in a crowd. I pray we all learn to see the face of Jesus more each day and to hear His voice. It reminds me of the Bible story where the two men were on the road to Emmaus. As Jesus walked with them, they did not recognize His face at first, but eventually He revealed Himself to them. (Luke 24:13-32)

PRINCIPALS FOR THE DAY
TUESDAY, MARCH 21st
 
This coming Tuesday, March 21st, Luke, Marissa, and Noah LaCour will be Principals for the Day. They have declared that this day will be a non-uniform day!! This means that all students may wear their choice of shirt color along with their uniform pant/skirt/skort. Students may also wear socks and tennis shoes of their choice.
Students will be treated to some special activities during the day including popsicles for all students during their lunch time. Many thanks to the LaCour family for supporting the St. George Auction.

TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK THANK YOUs

     The Faculty & Staff would like to extend a big THANK YOU to the Home & School Association for coordinating a fantastic Teacher Appreciation Week.  A special "Thank You" to Rober & Christina Alamirie of Bonefish Grill for providing the delicious luncheon on Thursday which was enjoyed by all.  Thank you to Jason & Mary Alford of Benny's Car Wash who provided vouchers for each SGS faculty & staff member to enjoy a free car wash.

S PIRIT DAY ~ FRIDAY, MAY 5th 
CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS

Plans are underway for making this year's Spirit Day the best ever!
This is a wonderful fun-filled day for all! To make this day a huge success for our students, we will need lots of parent volunteers.
  • We ask you to please consider signing up for at least 2 fifty minute shifts.
  • Please keep in mind that all volunteers must have completed Volunteer Certification. Information regarding Volunteer Certification can be found on the SGS website under the  "Parents" section.
  • When you arrive on campus, please be sure to sign in for your shift at the sign in table located to the left of the Administration Building.
  • Please arrive and sign in fifteen minutes before your shift.
  • You will be given a wristband and further instructions at that time.
  • Thank you for sharing your time and talents for this special day, and we look forward to seeing you on May 5th!
