Roxbury Indoor Percussion - Friends & Family Championship Preview Performance - Friday, March 31st
 The students of Roxbury Indoor Percussion are presenting a Friends and Family Championship Preview Performance of their 2017 show, "Energized". Everyone is invited to attend on Friday, March 31st from 7:30-8:00 p.m. in the Roxbury High School gym!
There's no admission fee, just come to cheer us on!
We end our season this Sunday, April 2 at our Championships and we would like to send the kids off feeling great. We hope to see you there!

K-6 Science and Engineering Fair - Saturday, April 1st
The students of Roxbury are pleased to invite you to Roxbury's Annual K-6 Science and Engineering Fair on Saturday, April 1st from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Eisenhower Middle School Gym. Come see over 100 exciting experiment and engineering design display boards. Our participating students are looking forward to explaining their projects to you.
Metropolitan Wind Band Invitational Back at RHS - Saturday, April 1
 Roxbury High School, Music for All, and the
Roxbury Band Parents Association (RHSBPA)
will host the fourth annual Metropolitan Wind Band Invitational (MWBI) on Saturday, April 1, in the Roxbury High School Auditorium, 1 Bryant Drive, in Succasunna.
This all-day music festival will be filled with 20 performances by several of the regions most accomplished high school wind ensembles and orchestras, including a midday performance by Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts Bacuoustics ensemble, and a closing performance by the Eastern Wind Symphony.
This year's Metropolitan Wind Band Invitational kicks off at Roxbury High School Auditorium with the first performance by the Roxbury Concert Band at 9 a.m. and will conclude at 7:30 p.m. with a 45 Minute concert by the Eastern Wind Symphony. Admission to the Festival is $10 adults, $5 seniors/students and a special family rate of $25 for a family of 4 or more (2 adults and 2 + children). Concessions will be available for purchase on-site, and there is free parking.

Learning Comes to Life in Kennedy Zoo
 Third graders at Kennedy School took their learning of non-fiction and brought it to life on Wednesday in a Living Zoo for students in the school and visiting family and friends.
Students in Ms. Tina Banta and Ms. Rebecca Szigeti's classes each identified an animal to research and write about as part of their non-fiction writing unit. Many students chose their favorite animal to imitate and research.
Fellow Kennedy students and families were invited to the "zoo" to check out all the animals on display. Each student stood by their display and were asked a variety of questions from all in attendance to show off their newly acquired knowledge.

Positive Parenting in S.A.I.L. Academy
 Franklin and Nixon School parents participated in the third of four Student Academic Intervention and Learning (S.A.I.L.) Parent Academies at Nixon School on Tuesday Night.
More than 40 parents came to this workshop with their children for free dinner and babysitting. Parents attended a seminar after dinner with Amy McCready on Positive Parenting while their kids had fun with computers and crafts.
As a "recovering yeller" and a certified Positive Discipline Instructor, McCready is a champion of positive parenting techniques for happier families and well-behaved kids. She shared her knowledge and some strategies with the parents on Tuesday night that included Mind, Body, and Spirit time with your child along with the When-Then approach to parenting.

Roxbury Boys and Girls Lacrosse Teams Start Seasons with Wins
The Roxbury High School girls and boys lacrosse teams launched into their new seasons in the right way on Wednesday as both scored opening day victories.

RHS Coach Honored as NJ Baseball Coach of the Year
 Congratulations to Coach Gregory Trotter on being selected by the National Federation of Coaches as the New Jersey Baseball Coach of the Year!
Coaches are recognized and selected for their distinguished background, experience, service and promotion of their sport at the state and national levels.
Coach Trotter received this award on March 26th at the 2017 Coaches Hall of Fame Program.
Cosmo Lorusso, Frank Misurelli, and Justin Spargo, fellow coaches were on hand to see Coach Trotter honored.

Roxbury Ice Hockey Team Honored at MCSSIHL Awards Banquet
 Roxbury High School Ice Hockey team was honored at the 11th Annual MCSSIHL Awards Banquet on March 26
th.
Coach Jonathan Benbow, Billy, A.J. Pisani, and Johnny Facchini accepted the Halvorsen Cup on behalf of the team. Billy, A.J., and Johnny also
received All-Halvorsen Division Honors. Billy also went on to receive
the Edward Halvorsen Memorial Award for being named the division's most valuable player.

Land Conservancy of New Jersey Offering Scholarships
 The Land Conservancy of New Jersey is now accepting applications for its 2017 Scholarship Program.
Two scholarships are available to college students who reside in New Jersey and are pursuing a degree in environmental science, natural resource management, conservation, horticulture, park administration, or a related field. The application deadline is April 1.
Applications can be downloaded from The Land Conservancy of New Jersey website,
www.tlc-nj.org or can be obtained by calling (973) 541-1010 x. 14. Potential candidates must be enrolled in a college or university, be in good standing, have at least 15 credits completed, and have an academic average equivalent to a 3.0 or higher.

Roxbury Township Public Schools are continuously collecting "Box Tops for Education" at our K-8 schools.
This is an easy, practically effortless way to raise funds for our schools by purchasing items you buy all the time.

Roxbury Alumni News
Roxbury Ice Hockey Alumni Prepare for Friendly Battle
 Forty former Roxbury High School hockey players will take to the ice again next month in a fundraiser game designed to help the younger generation.
To be played at Aspen Ice in Randolph on April 22, the game will be a Roxbury versus Roxbury contest featuring players from Roxbury High School graduating classes of 1990 through 2012, said 2001 graduate Phil Torr of Succasunna.
Torr, 34, is a member of the Roxbury High School Ice Hockey Alumni Association.
He and others in the group have been working diligently for about four months to put together the game, he said.
The association is hoping players get friends and family to show up. It is also inviting the general public. Admission will cost $5 and kids will be free. The first period is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.

A County College of Morris student from Roxbury was among three journalists awarded for their work in the school's campus newspaper, The Youngtown Edition, during the 2016-2017 academic year.
Roxbury High School graduate Amanda Aller, now Youngtown's managing editor, clinched a third-place victory for her arts and entertainment feature story "Timeless 'West Side Story' comes to CCM." Currently a music recording and broadcasting major at CCM, Aller will continue her undergraduate studies in the fall at Drew University in Madison, according to CCM.

tockton Sweeps Stevens 5-3 & 1-0
 Stockton University (10-6) swept a doubleheader from Stevens (10-6) by scores of 5-3 and 1-0 to wrap up a six-game homestand.

(West Milford/West Milford) pitched eight scoreless innings in the twinbill, earning a save in the opener and the win in the nightcap.

(Roxbury/Roxbury) rapped two of Stockton's nine hits in the first game, including a double.

RHS to Host Annual Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner on May 6; Honorees Announced
Established officially in 1903, Roxbury High School has a long-standing history of athletic excellence. From conference titles to state championships, Roxbury's athletic prowess has made the school a leader in New Jersey sports for many years, and Roxbury's athletes have earned honors in more than twenty sports while building a tradition of athletic excellence. In 2012, the RHS Athletic Hall of Fame was established to recognize all of the outstanding athletes, coaches, and teams in our history.
More than 200 alumni and community members are expected to attend the induction ceremony on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 5:00 p.m. in the Roxbury High School Dining Hall. Tickets can be purchased at
www.roxbury.org/HallOfFame or in RHS athletic office at Roxbury High School, 1 Bryant Drive, Succasunna, NJ 07876.
The Roxbury High School Athletic Hall of Fame Committee, comprised of administrators, teachers, coaches, former athletes, and community members, has selected this year's athletes, team, and coach to be inducted into the 2017 class of the Roxbury High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Roxbury Alumni Association is Looking for Board of Directors
 The Roxbury Alumni Association is looking to expand its current board of directors. They are looking for energetic alum interested in getting involved with Alumni Association and to add new members to its board. Interested individuals should reach out to Mr. Charlie Alpaugh the president of the association at 973-584-8805.
The Roxbury Alumni Association was established in the early 1900s and formally incorporated in 1968. Every year the Alumni Association provides a scholarship to a graduating senior. The association also purchases a Echo yearbook and donates it to the Roxbury Township Library for its archive.
Membership is only $10 and with your gift, you directly support the ability for the Alumni Association to continue giving a RHS grad a scholarship. You are also supporting the association as it develops new programs and events for you to enjoy.

No Town Money to Restore Roxbury's First Fire Truck
 Roxbury firefighters on Tuesday were told "sorry" when they sought township help in restoring their
cherished 1917 fire truck
.
Roxbury Fire Co. 1 in Succasunna wants to restore the old Model T in time for this August's 100th anniversary parade. The firefighters initially received estimates of up to $70,000 to refurbish the little vehicle - Roxbury's first fire truck - but firefighters eventually found a shop that will do it for about $14,000.

Volunteers Needed for Annual Roxbury Community Benefit 5K Race
The Roxbury Project Graduation Committee is looking for Volunteers! High school kids welcomed also for volunteer Hours. Volunteers are get a free shirt.
The Morris County Striders Running Club is hosting their annual Roxbury Community Benefit 5K race (formerly the Merry Heart 5K) on Monday, June 12. Project Graduation receives a donation from the race for providing marshals along the race course. The job of the marshal is to keep the runners on course, to prevent neighborhood traffic during the race and to cheer the runners on!
The race starts at 7:00. Volunteers are asked to be at their location by 6:45. Volunteers will be at their location for 30 minutes to an hour.
Girls on the Run - Registration is now open!
Girls on the Run is a transformational physical activity based positive youth development program for girls in 3rd-8th grade. We teach life skills through dynamic interactive lessons and running games. The program culminates with the girls being physically and emotionally prepared to complete a celebratory 5k running event. Girls meet twice a week for an hour and fifteen minutes over the course of ten weeks during our spring and fall season.

GENERATION FOUND Movie ~
Heroin use is an epidemic.
The CDC stated opioids were involved in 33,091 deaths in 2015, and opioid overdoses have quadrupled since 1999.
The movie "Generation Found" is about youth addiction and recovery.
GENERATION FOUND will be showing at the Cinepolis in Succasunna on April 5th at 7:30 pm. The only way to get tickets is to reserve them online.

Make a difference this Earth Day!
Join the Lake Hopatcong Foundation for one hour on Saturday, April 22nd to pick up roadside debris along Mt. Arlington Blvd in support of Roxbury's Adopt-a-Road Program.
Cleanup supplies and vests will be provided. All volunteers will be entered into a drawing to win prizes!

Opiate Symposium for Parents/Kids
The Roxbury Police Department and the Prosecutor's Office will be holding an Opiate Symposium on Wednesday, April 26th at Roxbury High School at 7 p.m.
This is an ongoing program that the MCPO has been doing throughout the County to educate parents and kids about the dangers of Heroin and Prescription medication abuse.

The third annual "Layups 4 Life" fundraising three-on-three basketball tournament, to benefit Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, will take place Saturday, April 29th beginning at 11 a.m. at the Roxbury High School's main gym. The school is located at 1 Bryant Dr., Succasunna.

Roxbury Announces Self-Serve Portal 24/7 Rox & Connected Roxbury NJ
Roxbury continues to deliver innovative customer service with their new self-serve on-line portal called 24/7 Rox. Now you can keep up-to-date with all the exciting news in Roxbury Township. On any day at any time, you can query property information, search and track your permit, schedule a building inspection, receive status updates, file a service request, or research any property in town. You are no longer limited to access town hall during regular business hours; Roxbury Township is open 24/7!
In addition to 24/7 Rox, we also offer another way to access our Township with our full-featured, mobile app, Connected Roxbury NJ. The app is free and available in the app store for IOS and Androids. All the information on our website is now in your hands and goes where you go. There are quick links to the Roxbury Newsletter, Online Payments, Notification Sign-Up, Agendas, Calendar and more; all at your fingertips. Roxbury Chamber of Commerce Upcoming Events
11th Annual Taste of Roxbury
 The Roxbury Area Chamber of Commerce will host the tenth annual
Taste of Roxbury culinary event from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Roxbury High School.
This annual fundraising event will benefit community charities. Attendees will sample food-as much as they'd like-prepared by local restaurants.
This great evening of eating and socializing will feature great food, door prizes, music and a more!
Ticket and restaurants to be announced in Spring of 2017.

Garden Club at Kennedy School (Grades PreK-4)
 Participants can attend one monthly session, two or all three of the Garden Club at the Kennedy School Garden for grades PreK-4 after school in May, June, and July. This program meets rain or shine! Hip Hop Dance After School at Franklin (Grades K-4)
 Hip Hop is an eclectic street style of dance that is performed in running shoes to current upbeat tempos. The dynamic moves taught in Hip Hop class are fast, stylish, funky and similar to those seen in music videos.
This class is appropriate for high energy dancers that are driven by a beat. Similar to a Jazz class, Hip Hop is broken down into 3 parts - warm up, corner work/technique and choreography. Students in a Hip Hop class will work on their strength, flexibility, and musicality through intricate fun and fast paced funky choreography. Irish Dance Lessons (Grades K-4)
 This program is instructed by certified Irish Dance Instructor, Emily

. Emily teaches students to dance in a fun and supportive atmosphere. This program teaches the basic fundamentals of Irish Dance.
During this program, students will learn how to confidently work independently and as part of a team. Students will learn a new dance style, make new friends while having fun. This 6-week program at Kennedy school is open to all elementary school aged children. Transportation to Kennedy School must be provided by the parents if coming from a different school. Kiddie Soccer (Ages 3 1/2-6)
Register for the seasonal 8-week spring Kiddie Soccer for your child ages 3 1/2 to 6 years old.
These groups are typically co-ed and broken into age groups by year.
The program teaches a series of fun, thematic games designed to teach the children the very basics of soccer. Spring sessions meet on Sundays starting April 9th at Lincoln/Roosevelt field. Tuition starts at $130 per child.

Kujenga Robotics & Coding (Grades K-6)
 Register now for the Learn Coding at School after-school program with Kujenga. Coding is the new literacy! Kujenga teaches programming to young students using robotics, Scratch Jr., and Scratch. Learning to code helps young people think creatively and reason systematically. After-school programs are available at the K-6 schools. Nixon School begins March 31st so don't wait to register! This class has reached its minimum enrollment and will be running. Tuition is $80 per student.

Mad Science Whiz Kids (Spring Break Mini-Camp for Grades 1-5)

 Join the Accents on Dance Studio in this new program for boys and girls in grades K-6. This program is a win/win opportunity for both parents and children. Tech Club at L/R - Rockets (Grades 5-6)
 Registration is now open for a new after-school program at L/R. Join Ms. Rodgers and Mr. Smith for a Tech Club on Rockets this spring through the Roxbury Community School. Come learn about the science and engineering of rockets! Build and launch a single engine rocket complete with a parachute in this hands-on STEM experience. Experience the colorful magic of fall in the Young Rembrandts classroom. Kick off the season with a graphic iguana, a video game favorite Pixel Block Character and the geometrical world of architecture as we draw the Notre Dame Cathedral. Mid-Year Registration for Grades 5-12
Roxbury's Applied Music Program is one of the most celebrated after school programs in the region. Blessed with award-winning music educators offering world-class instruction, the program nurtures local talent, empowering students to pursue careers in entertainment well after graduation.
This is a district-wide program that provides a high-quality enhancement to classroom instruction. Teachers are all specialists on their instrument or vocal specialty. All of our teachers are trained professional musicians and highly qualified in their instrument of expertise. Private study is extremely valuable to the individual student and highly encouraged. Private study is offered as enrichment, NOT remedial instruction. It is encouraged for the complete development of each students' potential as a performing musician and/or artist.
We are beginning mid-year registrations for those students interested in taking private lesson. Once the form and registration fee are received, your child will be assigned a weekly lesson time.

RHS Financial Literacy this Summer
The New Jersey Department of Education has mandated that all students are required to complete a course (2.5 credits) in Financial Literacy to be eligible for graduation. Due to the number of students requesting to take this course, we have decided to offer the class as an online summer course (we will continue to offer the traditional Financial Literacy course at Roxbury High School as well).
The course will be available to Roxbury High School rising juniors and seniors only during the summer of 2017. The course will begin on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 and run for approximately seven weeks. This interactive course will include writing assignments, labs, quizzes, and tests.
The final exam must be taken in person at Roxbury High School during the week of August 14, 2017. If the student does not fulfill all of the requirements for this class, no credit will be given and the appropriate grade will be listed on the student's transcript.

 Ever been told you have a great voice? From audio books and cartoons to documentaries, commercials, and more, this class will introduce you to the growing field of voice over. Learn what the pros look for, how to prepare, and where to find work in your area! You'll even have an opportunity to record a short professional script under the direction of a teacher.  Join Barry Wolfson for a special set of workshops for Smoking Cessation, Weight Loss, and Relaxation through Hypnosis. Yoga for Beginners
 Join this beginner class that introduces you to the fundamental principles of alignment and breath work in a flow of postures linked together by the breath. Students will be introduced to yoga postures through step-by-step verbal description and demonstration. If you have never tried yoga, this is the class for you! It is designed to meet the needs of those new to yoga as well as those seeking continued understanding of basic yoga poses. This course is idea for teens and adults.
