Free Summer Camp for Youth Residents

Since 2011, CAHEC has been a proud sponsor of Camp Challenge, a week-long summer camp for high-achieving, low-resource middle school students. Created by the North Carolina Bankers Association Foundation, Camp Challenge combines a variety of traditional camp activities like archery, swimming, and hiking, with various educational components including a daily personal finance course and lessons on etiquette, reading, and public speaking. We are excited to offer this camp opportunity to youth residents for FREE through our Youth Leadership Initiative!

To be eligible, the student must live at a CAHEC-sponsored property and be entering the 6th, 7th, or 8th grade for the 2017-2018 school year. Each student must submit their completed application with required documentation to the NC Bankers Association for review. The deadline to submit applications has been extended to March 24th, so please help us spread the word about this fun, educational, and free camp opportunity!

Our Mission in Action

  • Volunteering at local organizations within our community is very important to the CAHEC team. So far this year, we have collectively volunteered over 170 hours and we look forward to more hours of service throughout 2017!

  • We're excited to reveal the new branding of CAHEC Capital, Inc.! CAHEC Capital, an affiliate of CAHEC, promotes community development by providing various loan products to LIHTC developers. For more information, visit our website or contact Larry Poole at [email protected]

  • In a recent survey about CAHEC's Rex Williams Wellness Grant, numerous site managers gave positive feedback regarding the impact our wellness rooms are having on residents:
    • "Several of our senior residents say they feel much better now that they have started to exercise and use this equipment. It's easier on them than going to a rehab center, and they really enjoy it!"
    • "The wellness center makes residents more active, and it certainly helps them get to know their neighbors better!"
