Lenten Devotional Guide
Lent is a season of reflection - where many Christians carefully prepare for Easter with spiritual practices and a recommitment to our faith. To guide our spiritual journey, the devotional guide, "The Sanctuary for Lent 2017," by Donald K. McKim, is now available throughout the church. If you would like to reserve multiple copies for a group please contact Ruth Grissom ([email protected]).
Feed Just One Child for a Year
Each meal we pack during our community-wide meal packaging event, Rise Against Hunger (formerly known as Stop Hunger Now) costs 29 cents. You can provide a hungry child one nutrient-packed meal for 365 days for $105.85. Our Lenten offering will support our efforts to pack 300,000 meals, so please make your gift today. Don't forget to sign up to volunteer during the April 23-25 event by clicking the link below. There are numerous shifts available, and each one requires about 200 volunteers. It's a fun, easy way to be the hands and feet of Christ.

Thank you from Thrive Student Ministries
Our Variety Show Fundraiser was a huge success again this year and we want to thank everyone for their support! The money raised through this event will allow so many students to participate in various mission trips and retreats. We hope all who came enjoyed the food and entertainment and left knowing how important their support is and how much they are appreciated!

If you are interested in giving, you can still do so by one of the following ways:
  • Write a check to VHUMC with "Student Ministry Fundraiser" in the memo line
  • Text the word SERVE to 205-900-3747
Thank you again for your support of our students.
Forty Days-Forty Items
During this time of Lent, how would you like to unburden your life so that you can concentrate on what God has planned for you this Lenten season? One way to do that is to de-clutter your life and get rid of the "stuff" that is constantly weighing you down. Our challenge to you this spring is forty items or more during Lent to clean out and donate to someone in need.

On Saturday, April 8, VHUMC will once again host the Clean Out Challenge. Our first clean out challenge in October was very successful, and many of you have requested that we do it again. Shred-It, Electronic Recycling and others will be in the big church parking lot by Tyson Hall from 9:00 am until noon. Bellhops will help you unload your car so all you have to do is just pull up and donate! In the upcoming weeks, we will give you some suggestions of items to donate to help some of our mission partners.

Forty days-forty items, are you willing to accept the challenge? For questions and information about this challenge contact Rachael Hayes ([email protected]).
Men's Basketball League
VHUMC's Health, Wellness, and Recreation ministry is excited to offer our Men's Basketball League this spring. Games will begin on Monday, April 3 and run through Monday, May 22. Contact Megan Drumm ([email protected] / 769-0139), to register your team. All teams must be registered by Friday, March 24.
Vacation Bible Camp 2017

If you are interested in volunteering please contact Jamie Meeks ([email protected]) or Anne Strozier([email protected]). If your 6th - 12th grader would like to volunteer as a youth helper please contact Anna Watts ([email protected]). We hope you can join us for the fun!

March Memory Verse
Our 1st-5th graders have a new memory verse for March. It is: "I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another." - John 13:34

Kids can recite their verse in the elementary office or sensory room before or after Sunday School for a sweet treat and a chance to win a bike!

There is a June session and a July session. Classes are available both in the morning and late afternoons to accommodate busy schedules of the parents.
