WLC Celebrates #ReadAcrossAmerica
On Read Across America Day, our  Women's Leadership Council (WLC) read to Pre-K children at Green Bay Early Childhood Center in North Chicago. Each pair of women read Dr. Seuss books to classrooms and was able to interact with the kids not only through reading but by engaging in a Q and A session afterwards. Each book was donated to the classrooms so that the teachers could continue to celebrate Dr. Seuss with their students.

Volunteers Share their Love of Reading with McCall Elementary Students
Individuals from all around Lake County came together to read to nearly 300 preschool through 3rd grade children at Waukegan's McCall Elementary School in honor of Dr. Seuss' birthday. Early Reading Success Nurtures Love of Reading Among Kindergartners
At the beginning of this year, our Reading Success Program launched Early Reading Success, a new initiative that exposes kindergarten students to the basics of reading. In this program trained volunteers read stories to small groups of children and lead them in a short activity related to what they have just read.

"Students are beginning to take ownership of their part in learning to read. Many students are beginning to blossom in their understanding of how we learn to read and how we can enjoy it," Diane Plunkett, Kindergarten teacher at Glenwood Elementary School, shares.
