The Observance of a Holy Lent
During this holy season of Lent, we are invited to "self- examination and repentance, by prayer and fasting, and self-denial: and by reading and meditation on God's holy Word"  (BCP, 265.).

Continuing this Sunday,  through April 2nd, I will lead a four week program during Discovery Hour. This will be an interactive program titled "5 Marks of Love" with a short video and small group discussion time.

Also, during Lent we will be participating in Lent Madness, a daily learning program of Forward Movement.  Using brackets like March Madness, each day an email will be sent to allow you to read about two saints.  Select the saint which you choose to be the "most saintly" and vote.  It's very fun and educational.  We will be keeping track of the votes on a poster in Selleck Hall.   Register on-line at lentmadness.org

We have also set-up a small lending library of current and classic books for opportunities for reflection and meditation.  The books will include a broad range of topics including our Presiding Bishop's newest Book " Crazy Christians" to "Parenting from the Pews."
Books will be set-up in Selleck Hall.  Please enjoy and return as soon as you have finished so that others may also enjoy these books.

In Christ's peace,

Stephanie
Drawing Water
from
Jacob's Well
Another memorable experience during our Holy Land pilgrimage was of drawing water from Jacob's well in the town of Nablus ( Shechem in Hebrew).
Here in the ancient region of Samaria, just north of the West Bank, the same site where this Sunday's Gospel tells the story of Jesus' profound encounter with the woman at well; where He promises to provide living waters to all who follow Him.

St. Paul's
Prayer Wall
You are cordially invited to stop by our Prayer Wall, located in the foyer of the Carter Wing, for a moment of prayer and reflection sometime during these 40 days of  Lent.
Simply tie one of the  multi-colored strings to the fishing. Each represents a prayer offered for yourself, family member, friend or our world! Lets try and  fill the net with as many colorful prayers as we can in the days to come!

Knowing One Another:
Sacred Conversations
Please do sign up for our Knowing one another: Sacred Conversation.  Our recent gatherings have given everyone an opportunity to learn about and from each other  as we explored where God is calling us together in the years ahead. We have laughed and talked, prayed and dreamed.  It has been a wonderful chance to be together as God's people in a small group setting.

One more evening gathering will be held at the home of a parishioner on Sunday, March 26, 4-5:30 PM.

To ensure that we have no more than 10-12 people at each gathering so that everyone's voice can be heard, Blakely Stinebaugh will be taking RSVPs.  Please be in touch with her at [email protected] or 203.561.0607.
Trinity's Annual Conference
"Water Justice" Webinar
Hosted at St. Paul's

On  March 23 and March 24th , St. Paul's will be hosting a live stream of the Trinity Institute's Annual Conference with this year's theme
"Water Justice" which brings together scholars, authors and activists in the effort to ensure clean water for all.

We will live stream two mornings and one afternoon sessions of the conference, followed by facilitated conversation by The Reverend Stephanie Johnson, who has led workshops on sacred water in various settings around the church.

The morning programs  begin at 9 AM in the Waterman Library and run until about 11:30 AM each day. On Thursday, March 23, the keynote speaker will be  Maude Barlow is a political activist, author, policy critic and a former United Nations Senior Advisor on Water.

The Friday morning session will feature Thabo Makgoba  the Archbishop of Cape Town, South Africa. He has served as the chair of the Anglican Communion Environmental Network, and in that role convened a global gathering of bishops in 2015.

The afternoon session will be led by climatologist Katherine Keyhoe on  March 24th at 2PM, followed by a short conversation.

Members of St. Paul's are warmly invited to attend and bring friends to either one or all of the sessions.

The Episcopal Church in Connecticut is funding both the registration costs and the refreshments for the program, so there is no cost to participants.    Please register on the ECCT site - click here.
