Come, let us sing joyfully to the LORD;
let us acclaim the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us joyfully sing psalms to him.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Annual Pilgrimage
Bishop Malooly invites youth and young adults from all parishes and schools to join him for the eighth annual Pilgrimage on Saturday, April 8, 2017. Young people from across the diocese will carry the diocesan Pilgrimage Cross through the streets of Wilmington with the bishop as a representation of Jesus' entry to Jerusalem and his journey on Good Friday to Calvary. The day begins at St. Elizabeth Parish with opening prayer and a concert featuring Cooper Ray at 10:30 a.m. We conclude with the 5:00 p.m. Mass at St. Elizabeth. Don't miss this great opportunity to wrap up your Lenten Journey with hundreds of your peers. Cost for the day is $15 per person or $45 max per family (bring your own lunch). To register, please contact your parish Director of Religious Education. For more information, visit www.cdowcym.org. Registration deadline is April 2, 2017 (unless otherwise noted).

Terra Nova Testing Is Quickly Approaching
Our school will administer the Terra Nova Achievement Tests beginning Monday, March 20 through March 24. Only students in grades 2 through 8 will take the Terra Novas. Our teachers are working with children to instruct them on how to take the tests (marking the answer sheet, answering on the correct line, etc.). IF A STUDENT ARRIVES TO SCHOOL LATE AND IT IS DURING A TESTING SESSION, THE CHILD WILL NOT
BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE CLASSROOM AND WILL BE SENT HOME UNTIL THE TESTING SESSION HAS CONCLUDED. THE STUDENT WILL HAVE TO TAKE THAT TEST IN A MAKE-UP SESSION. Please be sure that all students eat a good breakfast every day.

  Operation Rice Bowl
During Lent, ou r church encourages us to build a closer relationship with the Lord through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. In order to provide an opportunity to our families to join in almsgiving, our school will par ticipate in the Operation Rice Bowl program that is sponsored by the Catholic Relief Services. In do ing so, we join Catholic families across the globe in responding to God's people who are in need. Each family received a "rice bowl" box. We ask that you fill it with change and plan to return it to MBSCS during Holy Week. Thank you, in advance, for whatever you can do in this regard. May God bless us with a holy Lenten Season as we move forward to the Triduum.

Summer/Warm Weather Uniform
The MBS uniform policy requires that students begin to wear the summer/warm weather uniform on APRIL 24th. Please check the Family Handbook for warm weather uniform requirements. Remember ALL uniforms, both school and Phys Ed must be purchased through Flynn & O'Hara. This date may change should the weather turn warmer earlier.
  •  We ask parents of girls to please note the requirement for the length of kilts and jumpers (no more than 2 inches above the knee). Even though many girls wear shorts under their kilts and jumpers, we ask that all kilts and jumpers measure at the required length. Thank you for your assistance with the matter.
  •  All students must tuck in their shirts.
  • The used uniform closet is open on Monday and Wednesday each week.
Nurses Suite
Please alert the office and your child's teacher if you the parents/guardians are going out of town.  Included in the memo should be who to contact in case of an emergency or if the student is sick.

Just a few reminders since virus/flu season is upon us:  1) If your child has a fever of 100 degrees or higher, he/she must be fever free (without any fever reducing medication) for 24 hours before returning to school. 2) If your child is diagnosed with strep throat, they must remain home for a minimum of 24 hours after the initiation of antibiotic treatment. 3) If your child has diarrhea or is vomiting, they should stay home for a minimum of 24 hours free of diarrhea/vomiting. This is to help prevent any germs from spreading to other students and for the health of the student who was sent home.  Other tips to prevent the spread of viruses/flu include: Frequent hand washing, do not share utensils/cups, and please cover your sneezes. Students who are sent home due to illness may not return to school the next day. Stay Healthy!

MBS Baseball Team Interest:
I've been approached about the possibility of fielding an MBS Baseball team next year. I wanted to take the time to go over some of the general details so that parents have a better understanding of how the team would run. Our spring sports practice will held every Monday/Wednesday 3:30-5pm, with games played on Tuesday/Thursday. We would be looking to field a team of about 12-15 players so that we have the ability to rotate positions. When students are away on vacation, sick, or at another practice or function, we would still be able to fielding a team. For a first year team, it's sometimes difficult to schedule many games, so my hope would be at least 4 games to start the program with the hope of scheduling 6-8 or more, the following years.
At this point, we are strictly trying to determine the interest level so that we can ascertain our financial obligations (fundraising for uniforms, umps, field rental, coaches, potential opponents, etc.). About 3 weeks ago, I polled the middle school boys to see who would be interested in starting a team and I received a positive response. I understand that this would be a huge commitment for many since most of the boys are playing Little League or Travel ball and will have various games/training/practices going on all at the same time.
If your child has a serious interest in playing on an MBS Baseball team, please send me an email confirmation at [email protected] . Thanks!
Functional Training:
***ATTENTION***We have decided to run one class (3:30-4:15pm), at this time there is no need for 2 separate classes. If we get more interested participants, we will possibly separate the classes at that time. Thanks!!!
Mr. Jarmon and Mrs. Kukel have decided to start a 6-week Functional training class after school for grades 2nd -8th (3:30-4:15pm). We will meet every Tuesday beginning   March 7th. During the 6 weeks we will cover everything from proper form, nutrition, goal setting and progressions just to name a few. Unfortunately, we can't take everyone into this program so it will be "first come, first serve" basis (we will take the first 15 for both groups). If you would like for your child to participate, please EMAIL Mr. Jarmon at [email protected] . There is a $45 fee for the class that will cover the entire 6 weeks. Along with the participation fee, students are required to have a physical/sports physical before participating. If your child has already had a physical for the school year, simply send in a copy of it. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Mr. Jarmon or Mrs. Kukel!

Counseling Corner
This past week I met with grades 2, 3, 4 and 5.  We discussed Terra Nova Preparations.  We stressed getting good sleep, eating a healthy breakfast and coming in with confidence and a good  attitude. We also worked on coping skills with feelings of worry, sadness, stress or anger.  We discussed the signals our body can give us when we feel the feelings above.  We discussed listening to our body, then taking deep breaths to calm down.   We talked about ways to focus on the present.  We d iscussed breathing while praying and saying positive things to ourselves.  We practiced some muscle relaxation tools as well.  Parents, if you need any calming resources to use and practice you can contact me at [email protected] .

What - Wednesday Walk With Jesus
When - Every Wednesday in Lent beginning on Ash Wednesday from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
Where - The church aisles of St. John Neumann will be our labyrinth as we walk side by side with Jesus opening our hearts to Him alone.
Why - Want to walk in with your issues and walk out with new direction?
How - Labyrinth walking is one of the simplest forms of focused meditation.
A labyrinth is an important tool that can offer a spiritual awakening. It is a help in discovering what God is calling us to do with our lives and depending on Him rather than depending on ourselves, things and people outside.
**Bring your children if you'd like so that they too may walk, do their homework, or watch a video in the library.
Soup, Salad, Pizza and Fellowship!

Easter Basket Project 2017 to Benefit Seton Center and Diakonia Sponsored By Religious Education
As we continue our journey during this season of Lent, the youth of our parish invite you to lend a helping hand to families in need by participating in the Easter Basket Project 2017. Over the past several years, countless individuals have generously given of their time, talent and treasures for this project. The project provides a memorable Easter experience for many young people who may not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy a tradition many of us may take for granted. Please prayerfully reflect on this service opportunity and make a donation. May God continue to bless you during the Lenten and Easter seasons, and throughout the year.
Please bring your basket donations to St. John Neumann by April 2nd  and place your bag in the Gathering Area. Our students will put the baskets together for delivery and pick up for the many organizations. Last year we were able to make 115 baskets due to your generosity.

Vision Statement

Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic School provides rigorous and technologically relevant instruction that is intentionally integrated with Catholic identity.  Together, as Pastors, administrators, teachers and parents, we nurture the development of the mind, the body, and the soul, in each of our students.  Our students are able to make sound decisions based upon the teachings of Jesus Christ and modeled upon the lives of the saints.  As a faith and learning community, we teach students a passion for the truth and a love for discovery and knowledge. Our students are prepared to relate their Catholic faith to their culture and actively live their faith as members of the greater community.
