Min No Aya Win Human Service Center

Meyer Group Architecture is working with Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa to expand their clinic and parking area. Overall project addition increase includes over 26,000 SF. Three major departments are able expand - including Behavioral Health, Social Services and Medical. Medical department growth includes a new nurse's station, an expanded laboratory department and new exam rooms. The behavioral health department will feature a brand new conference room, therapist offices, offices for additional staff as well as specialized areas for treatment and staff. Additionally, the project includes additional entrance with reception area and sub waiting for clients, patients and guests. A dedicated area for social services is located on the lower level, allowing for increased privacy and space for clients and staff. Organizational needs and long term goals were met and exceeded by the project by creating a large conference room for multi-use purposes- including training and meetings, in addition to a newly created and expanded break room for staff. Additional project scope includes a dental renovation and expansion of several laboratories, offices, multi-purpose room and a coatroom for staff.

Waaswaaganing Living Arts & Cultural Center

Meyer Group Architecture was selected to design Lac du Flambeau Lake Superior Chippewa Indian's new Culture Center and Living Arts center. The new building will replace their former Indian Bowl Amphitheater facility, a well known area landmark. The new facility shall possess a new Pow Wow Grounds, Art Center, Art Education classroom space, additional museum facilities and public facilities supporting the amphitheater. The new facility will also be utilized by Lake of the Torches Casino for outdoor Music performances.

University of Minnesota-Duluth, 4th Floor Humanities Renovation
DULUTH, MINNESOTA

UMD determined that the office space on the 4th Floor of the Humanities Building needed to be laid out to be more functionally effective. The current layout of the office is segmented and doesn't provide office space for enough faculty members. We are proposing two different floor plans. The first plan involves demolishing interior walls and adding window walls to the interior hall space, providing a more open concept, allowing light into the office from multiple directions. The other option involves leaving existing walls in place, adding only furniture to accommodate up to 12 faculty and staff members. Both options involve centralizing and consolidating the Reception area. In either scenario, utilizing partially glazed panel systems to create personal office spaces for faculty, will allow light to move through the space and will encourage collaboration and communication.

University of Minnesota-Duluth, Bohannon Room 116 Space Planning

Bohannon Hall, Room 116 is the office space for four Education and Human Services Professions Faculty and Staff members. This space is currently divided by a tall panel system, awkwardly isolating spaces, creating dark corners and diminishing the ability to collaborate. Our proposal is to open the space, while continuing to provide separation of areas and creating new functional areas. Three of the four Faculty and Staff work closely together, so their space is being kept open and connected. The 4th member of this group needs more privacy, so their office area is divided from the others. An organized work room is being designated in the back corner of the space and a reception area is open to one of the three connected spaces. The functionality of this space will be greatly improved in layout alone. Using partially glazed panel systems and low furniture, to allow light from the wall of windows to penetrate the room, will open up and unite the spaces.

West Theater Renovation

Meyer Group Architecture was selected to assist in the restoration of the West Theater, one of two remaining Art Deco style theaters left in Duluth-Superior. The theater was constructed in 1937 and has been in and out of operation ever since. We will be restoring the building to its original Art Deco theater aesthetic and purpose. The venue will show classic, alternative film, live music, as well as host community events.

Waa Wiye Gaa Maag Community Center

Meyer Group Architecture is excited to be working with the Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe to develop the Waa Wiye Gaa Maag Community Center, a mixed-use remodel and rehabilitation of the 1950's brick and block elementary school that is no longer in use. When completed, the Community Center will also include a housing wing, a play ground, meeting space, pow-wow grounds, and camp ground area.

Lac Courte Oreilles Housing Authority Projects

Tim has been spending his winter with his son, Tim Jr, partner and her children. It's been an exciting journey being a first time dad and he is loving every minute he spends with his son and family. Tim is excited for the warm weather to arrive so they can have more fun adventures.

Terry's winter has been busy with travels! In November, Terry was able to spend his birthday in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, soaking up the warm weather. In January, he was in Charleston, North Carolina for the NAAB Cut Score Task Force. Terry is will also be attending NCARB's Regional Submit in New Jersey in March and hopes to see New York City as well while he is there.

GaoChy is having a great winter - she was in Texas in January with her friends and was able to visit San Antonio, Austin and Dallas. She recommends visiting the Riverwalk in San Anotonio- which was her favorite place she visited! A really great spot with lots of restaurants and shops. She had great week there and hopes to visit again soon.

Jamie and his family are settling into their new home in Two Harbors. He wasted no time getting started on projects and built a privacy fence in the back yard to keep his wild animals contained (3 yr old daughter, and dog). He has started taking online classes towards an associates degree in construction management in hopes of furthering knowledge in the construction industry.

Erik has been enjoying time with friends and family. He very much enjoyed the journey to Lakota, ND to visit his aunt and uncle's construction project at the old Episcopal Church of the Good Shepard. He has also had fun playing the euphonium in the Duluth Community Band. Erik looks forward to staying warm this winter, and taking the ARE exams very soon.

This winter has been flying by. Ashley is currently finishing her last semester in college at North Dakota State University in the cold tundra of Fargo, ND. She is learning a lot and can't wait to graduate in early May with her Masters. She attended her first Wild's hockey game, which was a blast. She has been spending a lot of time with family and friends this winter and can't wait for her nephew to be born. Ashley is super excited for the snow to melt away and the warmth to come back.

This winter, my partner, Ryan, and I had the pleasure to inform our families that we're expecting a new addition to our family this coming summer. Big brother, Dominic, is looking forward to having a little sister and being super helpful! We've been painting and updating our house, getting ready for the baby, and doing some things we've wanted to do since we moved into the house, including a new stove, just in time to bake holiday cookies.
While I'm adding to my personal family, I'm happy to be the newest member of the Meyer Group Family! I'm happily getting to know my new team mates and I'm glad to be here. I am so excited to see what the future holds!

Rebecca and her family spent the winter enjoying many of the Northland's winter activities. They have spent much time skiing, watching and playing lots of youth hockey. To cap it all off they plan a trip south to thaw before spring and summer sports start up.
