Glass is made from sand, a non-renewable resource. There is no limit to the amount of times glass can be recycled. Recycling one glass bottle saves enough energy to power a 60 watt light bulb for eight hours. A glass bottle takes 4,000 years or more to decompose, and even longer if its in a landfill. To receive free technical assistance, indoor recycling containers, and signage to start or improve your school recycling program, email Cher Mohring or call 513-946-7737. CHANGING STATES OF MATTER Schedule a Changing States of Matter classroom program and students will learn how oil is changed from a liquid to a gas and finally to a solid plastic. Then students will make a fun upcycled craft to take home. Email Jenny Lohmann or call 513-946-7736 to schedule this free program. Here is a video preview of this engaging program. BOOK A FREE FIELD TRIP The spring of 2016 Compost Kids field trip schedule is now available. Apply now to get the date you need. There are also some January and February Where Does All The Garbage Go? field trip dates still available. CAFETERIA WASTE SORTING BANNERS Cafeteria waste sorting banners are now available for schools that recycle in Hamilton County, Ohio. These banners are designed to hang from the ceiling or on a wall above receptacles. The recycle and landfill banners are actually blank so that schools can customized and revise them easily by attaching actual items that are common in the school. By stacking polystyrene trays before throwing them away, schools may be able to reduce landfill dumpster service since they will take up less space. To find out how you can get some or all of the banners, email Cher Mohring or call 513-946-7737. |
