Looking on the Bright Side from the Munich Satellite Navigation Summit
The opening plenary of the annual Satellite Navigation Summit in Munich tends to be a ritzy affair, taking place in the evening in an amazing converted chapel and featuring live musical interludes in between groups of speakers. This year the audience was treated to movie tunes, and the European Commission's Pierre Delsaux had a suggestion for the play list. (

The U.S. Congress is prepared to deliver the coup de grace to a new rule aimed at protecting the personal information - including the geolocation - of broadband internet users. The move, one of a number aimed at eliminating Obama-era regulations, would slice through months of debate, and federal regulators' own backpedaling, to kill the pro-privacy rule in a way that makes resurrecting it extremely difficult. u-blox
Housed in a tiny, only 4.5 mm x 4.5 mm x 1.0 mm package, u-blox's new ZOE-M8G GNSS module has been especially designed for markets where small size, minimal weight and high location precision are essential. ZOE-M8G offers exceptionally high location accuracy by concurrently connecting to GPS, Galileo and either GLONASS or BeiDou. It also provides industry-leading -167 dBm navigation sensitivity. It is ideal for wearable devices, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and asset tracker applications.
With its fully integrated, complete GNSS solution, built-in SAW-filter and Low Noise Amplifier (LNA), ZOE-M8G can be used with passive antennas, without the need for additional components.
Due to its very small size, a complete GNSS design using a ZOE-M8G module takes approximately 30% less PCB area compared to a conventional discrete chip design with a CSP chip GNSS receiver.
Volume production will start in October 2017.

NavCom Technology, Inc. - A John Deere Company
Unlike DGPS positions that are relative to a reference station location, StarFire™ produces absolute, ITRF positions anywhere on the earth's surface, anytime. StarFire™ accuracy is independent of the distance to the nearest reference station. GNSS satellite orbit and clock corrections are calculated from a global tracking network of multi frequency receivers. These corrections are transmitted via geo-stationary satellite links direct to StarFire™ receivers, resulting in minimal data latency and worldwide operation with a minimum 10° look angle to the geostationary satellites. Learn more about having the power to do it all with StarFire™, satellite-delivered corrections.
