LAKEVIEW EAST ANNUAL MEETING

On Tuesday, March 7th, the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce held their 2016 Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony at Old Crow Smokehouse. Nearly 150 business owners and members of the community attended to network with each other and learn about our 2016 successes and future plans moving into 2017! Elliot Richardson of the Small Business Advocacy Council and Alderman Tom Tunney were our guest speakers. We also introduced our new 2017 Board of Directors. BELMONT SHEFFIELD MUSIC FESTIVAL

Celebrating its 33rd year in 2017, Belmont-Sheffield Music Fest will kick off Chicago's outdoor street fest season when it again welcomes the start of summer and the warm weather on May 27 & 28 on N. Sheffield Ave. from Belmont to Roscoe.

Located just steps from the bustling Belmont Red Line "El" stop, this wildly popular street fest in the heart of Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood will again showcase the region's favorite tribute bands. This iconic fest (sponsored by the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce) also features plenty of food and libations as well as artisans who will roll out their newest creative handiwork.

DRIVER'S LICENCE RENEWAL AT 46TH WARD OFFICE

Alderman Cappelman's Office will be hosting a day for residents to receive or renew their Illinois State ID or driver's license. Next Thursday, Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White's office will come to the 46th Ward for those pressed for time or who have difficulty traveling to the nearest location (4642 W. Diversey) or their downtown office (100 W. Randolph). All are welcome.

When: Thursday, March 23 from 10am - 2pm
Where: 46th Ward Office at 4544 N. Broadway

CHICAGO TRIBUNE READER'S CHOICE DINING AWARDS

The Chicago Tribune is hosting their Reader's Choice Dining Awards again this year and the Lakeview East Chamber of Commerce has two member restaurants that were nominated! Mortar & Pestle and Crisp. Mortar & Pestle was nominated for Best Brunch and Crisp was nominated for Best  Wings.

WRIGLEY FIELD COMMUNITY MEETING

This meeting is held annually, per ordinance and is hosted by the City of Chicago.  At this meeting, various city departments and the Cubs will report out on the 2016 season and briefly discuss what to expect in 2017.  There is an opportunity for community input and questions at the end of the meeting.

Congratulations to Wheeler Kearns Architects and the Lakeview Pantry for winning the Richard H. Driehaus Foundation Award for Architectural Excellence in Community Design!

"Wheeler Kearns' outstanding design work allows us to forge a new chapter for Lakeview Pantry, so we can continue to serve our neighbors in a dignified and efficient manner," said Executive Director Kellie O'Connell. "The new building allows us to expand our impact in the community and put down enduring roots so clients can feel hope for the future."

SIDEWALK CAFE APPLICATIONS
 
Now is the time to turn in those Sidewalk Cafe Applications for the 2017 year! Sidewalk café season begins on March 1st, and ends on December 1st. Sidewalk Café Permits have a 9 month term, and must be applied for, and issued, every year. The sooner the better in order to assure you can set up your cafe at the beginning of the season.
