Scream Relaunches at Simpsonwood!!
(Started Sunday, Feb. 19):
We are excited to announce that the 45's group is joining forces with Scream Ministries in an effort to draw additional children into the ministry! As always, we will continue to provide a high energy program with the main goal of leading children to a relationship with Christ. All of the details at this time have not been worked out; however, we are excited about this opportunity and would appreciate your prayers in this matter. The new program will be held on Sunday evenings from 5:00 - 6:30pm. It is for all 3rd, 4th, and 5th Graders who are interested in learning more about Christ & developing a relationship with Him! Come join us for live music, great talks, and big group games! To sign up your child and/or volunteer, please click here.

Spring Scream Retreat (March 24 - 26):

I (with the help of additional chaperones) will be taking a group of 4th and 5th graders from Simpsonwood UMC up to Sharp Top Cove (Jasper, GA - approx. 45 -50 minutes from Norcross) for an exciting weekend! Click here for details about the Retreat.

Young Harris Scholarship Fund

The Young Harris Scholarship Fund has funds available whenever we have interested applicants from our church youth. Chris Mixer, Director of Student Ministries, and Michelle Wehrheim, Youth Administrative Assistant, make information about Young Harris and the available scholarship known to eligible students at Simpsonwood.

Students that receive the Simpsonwood scholarship usually receive matching funds from the United Methodist Leadership Scholars program (UMLS). The UMLS program is designed to encourage active UM students to attend a United Methodist-related college or university by offering these funds. The UMLS program is part of the UMHEF funds (Higher Education Funding).

HOPE Ministry.........
SUMC's ONLY home-grown ministry!!

LOVE THIS CHURCH!!!
Thanks to all who helped with the purchase of a super used car from one of our church members.

The hope family really needed the transportation.
They were extremely grateful and excited!!

We are looking for lots of mentors for the 16 kids we sponsor. All ages, boys and girls. If you would like to get involved in our mentoring program contact Jann Roeder. God honors us when we love the children.

Praise God from Whom ALL blessings flow!!

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord." (Luke 4:18, 19 NKJV)

Please let
Jann Roeder know if you would like to become
more involved with HOPE Ministry.
There are always fun and exciting ways to be HIS hands and feet.
More Opportunities
Yoga @ Simpsonwood

Please join us for Yoga in the FLC gym, every Thursday at 9:30 AM.    We practice yoga because it is essential for everyone to become the best caretakers we can be of the body, mind and spirit given to us by a loving Creator. Learning yoga poses is non-competitive, yet challenging as each person discovers places within themselves that are in need of balance and expansion.

In practicing yoga, we are:
  • Using our bodies to stretch and open
  • Using our minds to become aware of our potentials and our limits
  • Using our spirits to recognize and acknowledge the Divine source of our lives
Some benefits of yoga are:
  • We learn to value all aspects of our being
  • We find enhanced healthfulness
  • We cultivate peace in the midst of our non-stop stress-filled lives
PLEASE JOIN US and it's only $10 per session.
The next six week session would include the following dates:
February 16 and 23
March 2, 9, 16 and 23

Thursdays at 9:30am

The cost is $50 for 6 weeks, $10 to drop into single classes.

Even if you haven't joined us before, newcomers are welcome!

Located in the gym in Family Life Center.

Thank you,
