Greetings! Next week is a big week for Fayette County and for the Fayette Chamber. The SPLOST election is March 21 and the Business on the Green golf tournament is on March 23.
We have a handful of slots left for Business on the Green teams so if you've been deterred from booking your foursome because of this week's cold, wet weather, fear no more! Right now the prediction for next Thursday is 72 degrees! We have a great day planned and you don't want to miss it! Contact Tiffany at
[email protected] to register to play or volunteer.
Did you know that last November, 82.4 percent of Fayette County's registered voters voted but in last year's May primary, only 25.2 percent voted? Local issues are extremely important so we ask that you please go vote if you haven't done so yet!
This week, you can vote from 8 to 5 at the County office, Peachtree City library and Tyrone Town Hall. On March 21, all voting locations in Fayette County will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Please post a picture of your peach "I Voted" sticker on social media and use the hashtag #FayetteVotes. If you'd like to learn more about the SPLOST projects and other information about the vote, please visit VoteYes4Fayette.com.

Thursday is the meeting night for municipal governments. Fayetteville will look at amendments to its employee retirement plan and amending this year's budget on the general fund and water and sewer fund. Peachtree City will consider revising its budget policy. CLICK HERE for proposed revision (page 14). Tyrone will consider entering into an agreement with Fulton County to provide waste water treatment capacity. Tyrone has been seeking options to its sewer challenge for some time.
STATE
Last week, Georgia Department of Transportation board member Sam Wellborn and DOT staff met with the Fayette County Transportation Committee. Committee members asked questions about specific road projects including 74/54 intersection in Peachtree City and 54 widening on the northern end of the county. Committee chair Randy Ognio has asked DOT staff to meet with the Transportation Committee on a quarterly basis.
Today is the 34th day of the 40-day legislative session. HB 199 provides an income tax credit for entertainment companies to include postproduction and video games. Named the "Georgia Entertainment Industry Postproduction Investment Act," the bill would provide a tax credit to be equal to 20 percent of the base investment in Georgia and like the film industry, an additional 10 percent if Georgia is promoted in the end-product. No action has occurred on this bill since it moved to the Senate at the end of February.
