WE'RE KICKING OFF OUR 8TH GRADE MATH COLLABORATIVE ACTION NETWORK

We are kicking off our 8th Grade Math Collaborative Action Network (CAN) on Thursday, April 6th from 8:00 - 9:30 AM at Stuart Middle School. The CAN will function as a collective impact mechanism that brings practitioners and partner organizations together to provide cross-sector coordination of efforts in areas that impact 8th grade math performance.

Why 8th grade math? With the overarching goal of increasing academic achievement, safety and well-being of children and youth in our community, so that they can become productive, contributing members of the workforce, ACYI has identified critical points along the cradle to career pipeline which will impact that goal.

Success in 8th Grade Math performance has become an important milestone for high school persistence, academic achievement, post-secondary completion, and general preparedness for the workforce. There is a strong link between mathematics curriculum and post-secondary enrollment.

Purpose? The group will meet quarterly to assess data, identify shared measurements, implement the work required, receive input, enhance resources and support policy alignment to achieve the CAN's goals using the continuous improvement practice.   READ MORE

THE DENVER FOUNDATION SUPPORTS ACYI'S FOCUS ON ENGAGING YOUTH

"When youth succeed. We ALL succeed."

ACYI has been selected to participate in The Denver Foundation's Non-Profit Internship Program this year, which means an undergraduate student will be working with us this summer to further develop our focus on engaging youth (and their voice and perspective) into the work of our Partnership. Not only will our intern help to empower youth to apply their creativity and energy to affect meaningful change, he or she will also participate in workshops about leadership, equity, professionalism, and employment skills through The Denver Foundation.

We are in the process of conducting interviews with potential intern candidates and look forward to introducing you to our new team member soon.

In the meantime, if you are working with youth and are interested in collaborating on engaging them in the work ACYI supports, please reach out to our Partnership Director at [email protected]
