As part of this year's Lenten project, we are collecting bras for Free The Girls. This organization helps survivors of human trafficking in developing countries become economically independent by giving them bras to sell in second-hand clothing shops.

Congratulations to Our 2017 Valedictorians!

Carondelet High School is proud to announce the results of the valedictorian selection process. The process began when a group of seniors were invited to submit an application. Students who are invited to participate maintain a stellar GPA and possess an exemplary record of conduct, leadership, and service, which reflects their support of the Carondelet mission.

Candidates submitted a résumé, two short answers and a draft of a valedictory address. A faculty committee scored the applications, which were submitted without names, to determine finalists who then presented their speeches to the faculty committee.

It is our pleasure to congratulate valedictorian candidates: Allison Andre, Fiona Dolan, Sydney Moore, Isabelle Nguyen and Anneliese Peterson, and finalists Gennifer Birkenfeld-Malpass, Emily Groth, and Olivia Pereira. For the first time in recent history, two seniors, Sophia Colello and Olivia Conte, were selected as co-valedictorians. Congratulations to Sophia and Olivia who will both deliver valedictory addresses at graduation.
Dance Team Makes Blankets for Children in Need

Pictured from the left around the table to the right: Jen McGregor '17, Caitlin Bowen '17, Lily Miles '18, Tiana Couture '17, Julia Woodbridge '17, Emma Cate Neves '18, Melina Stitch '20 and  Sarah Easley '19

For the past three years, the Carondelet dance team has been working with an organization called Blankets for Kids. It all began with senior Caitlin Bowen. She made blankets for the organization at her elementary and middle schools and wanted to continue to work with them when she came to Carondelet.

With the support of their coaches, the team was able to take time out of their practice schedule during the busy month of February to make these blankets. Through the organization, the blankets are distributed to police departments, shelters and crisis centers, and given to children and teens who are experiencing abuse, neglect or other crises. Each dancer made at least one blanket, for a total of 53 blankets!

When speaking about the positive impact of the experience,  Julia Woodbridge '17 said, "M y favorite part about making the blankets was getting to do something that benefited others, but also benefitted my team by allowing us to bond, laugh and spend time together."
