Just a quick note to let you know (those on our email list regarding odors at the SWLF) that our landfill gas system is off-line for a number of hours today (3/15/17) while we are continuing the improvements to the system (improving reliability and redundancy). The good news is that after today's work is complete, there should be minimal impacts going forward. The system is not completed yet, but today's work will allow the system to operate even while additional work is ongoing in most circumstances.
Due to high wind speed during the day today it is unlikely that you will experience any odors, however, during the overnight period and into the early morning the wind is predicted to be unfavorable and may present the opportunity for some malodorous experiences. Please continue complete the odor form if landfill odors are experienced. I simply wanted to give you an update on our progress and the potential impact in the morning (3/16) due to our efforts today and predicted wind conditions tomorrow.
