CCTS Partners UAB and HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology have launched the Alabama Genomic Health Initiative (AGHI), one of the nation's first statewide efforts to identify those at high risk for genetic disease and to support research into genetic contributors to health and disease. The project will result in "immediate health benefits" for some and enable the creation of a DNA biobank, with samples from more than 10,000 participants representing every county in AL, to help reduce the burden of chronic disease across the state.
