    April 8 |  Scouting U | University of Arkansas
    Come join other Junior and Cadette Girl Scouts, as well as Boy Scouts for Scouting U at the University of Arkansas. Class choices include Woodworker, Book Artist, aMaze Journey, Musician, Digital Photographer and the Agent of Change Journey.

    April 21-23 |  Scout-O-Rama | Texarkana, TX
    Attend the Four States Scout-O-Rama and meet Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts from Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas. Enjoy a weekend of camping, fun, games, and the biggest Scout Show we have ever seen!

    May 5-7 |  Scouting U | Camp Crossed Arrows
    It's time to go to Scouting U, and this time, we're taking it to camp! Choose your classes and earn up to three badges in the one-day workshop. Badge options vary by level and will be available to choose at registration. Choose the weekend option and spend two nights, and enjoy a campfire and special program Saturday evening.

    Check out these new features:
    • Need a Program Registration Form or want to look at Safety Activity Checkpoints? You'll be able to head to the Forms & Documents page where you can enter a search term in the search box, or search by category. You'll also see a list of the top forms so you can easily access some of the most popular ones.
    • View events on the new calendar or in list form. From there, you can filter by category and program level. For example, if you wanted to find Gold Award Workshop sessions for your tenth-grader, you could filter the category to "Girl Training" and program level to "Seniors."
    • The best is yet to come - we'll be adding some fabulous resources like the Volunteer Toolkit in the upcoming months. The Volunteer Toolkit is an online resource to help our wonderful volunteers plan meetings, and it will help parents learn more about all the fun activities their girls are doing.

    Training Programs
     
    Program Aide  
    Girls will learn how to work with younger Girl Scouts and explore their talent as leaders. Upon completion of the training, girls will be awarded a certificate and t-shirt. They can then practice their Program Aide skills at six activity sessions and earn their Program Aide pin.
     
    As a pre-requisite to taking this course, girls must have completed at least one Leader-In-Action (LIA) Award from the Cadette Girl Guide to Girl Scouting and submit the required LIA Report (found on the Diamonds website).

    Gold and Silver Award Training  
    Girl Scouts who complete their projects are honored with the Silver or Gold Award, the highest award a Girl Scout can earn for her age group. Join us for Gold and Silver 101 Training to have a better understanding on how to complete projects. Gold Award training is now mandatory for any girl beginning her project in the 2017 membership year.

    Girls can visit this beautiful lakeside park for a day trip or campout and enjoy activities including fishing, hiking and biking. Troops can also set up a badge workshop for outdoor badges including Sky, Trees, Night Owl, Geocaching and much more! Camping is free for girls who complete a service project at the park.

    Heifer Village offers several free programs to Girl Scouts including "We are Connected," which explores connections between humans, the environment, and food, and a Green Building Tour, which educates girls about sustainable and environmentally sensitive buildings and showcases Heifer's green certified buildings. "Best of Both Worlds," which features programs at Heifer Village and the Clinton Presidential Center, is also available for larger groups.

    Arkansas State University Museum offers two patch programs for Girl Scouts. The " Early Arkansas: Ingenuity , Skills, Hard Work"  patch is designed to help scouts learn that farming and homesteading in Arkansas during the late 1800s and early 1900s required hard work, many special skills, and ingenuity. The " Portals of the Soul : Ancient Peoples of Northeast Arkansas " patch is designed to help scouts learn about native peoples of Northeast Arkansas. Each patch has a self-guided packet that parents or troop leaders can help their girls complete. The packets are downloadable at: http://www.astate.edu/a/museum/things-to-do/index.dot#patch
     
    The museum also offers free weekly Tinkering Studios where you can immerse yourself in an investigation of scientific phenomena, and make something. A Tinkering Studio is a studio workshop for playful invention and exploration. It is a place where visitors of all ages can spend time working and playing with a variety of tools and materials to create whatever their imaginations can design.The hours for the Studio may vary from the normal Museum Hours. Call to verify times.
